Socket Rocket Code and Programming?
« on: February 17, 2007, 01:36:01 PM »

My socket rocket came without a code assigned to it.  Where or how do I get the IP number for this socket rocket?

Zinger,
The Socket Rocket (LM15A) does not have an IP address assigned to it,
But it does have a default House Code / Unit Code assigned to it.  "A1"

Refer to the manual for changing the default HouseCode/Unit Code to another
of your choice.

ftp://ftp.x10.com/pub/manuals/lm15a-is.pdf

You will need a controller to "program" the Socket Rocket.
I use the Palm Pad remote control (HR12A)

The manual referenced should give you the way to program it. You don't have to do it where it is installed. It can be programmed in closer location to the controller or CM15A and then moved.
Since this is in the AHP area are you going to be using the CM15A AHP Interface to set it?

Yes, I will be.

I am going to try it out right now and see what I can come up with.

I've always used a lamp and and a MC460 to program Socket Rockets. That's the easy way to program/reprogram them.

If you wish to set the unit and house code using AHP and the CM15A it can be done as follows.
1. In AHP set up a chime module with the unit and house code you want the socket rocket programed to.
2. Screw the socket rocket into a lamp near the CM15A and apply power.
3. In AHP turn the chime module on three times in a row.

If all goes correctly the Socket Rocket should turn on with the third on commend sent to it.

The reason for using the chime module and not a lamp module, in AHP, is because the chime does not require an off  being sent in between the ons.
