Active Home Update ?
« on: March 16, 2005, 06:30:34 PM »

Something is not right in River City.....

Last communications I had with X10 techs
suggested an AHP update was to occur
shortly after 3/10/05.  Appears there is no
update in sight !

What gives X10 Techs ?     When can your
loyal user base expect some fixes to
3.180 ? When is the update to 3.180 due ?

X-10’s response to issues presented via this
forum community is pretty dismal. It’s been
over a month since the last update and the
AHP community has provided a wealth of
information to the AHP technical staff. They
seem to respond initially to issues raised,
then seem to taper off till they fall off
the face of the earth almost entirely. I for
one am looking forward to the day when I can
finally dust off my CM15A and finally switch
to AHP and download smart macros(Yes, I will
pay them $50 more for those cool features).
Until then, my little cm11a is working
almost flawlessly. Just a little burp now
and again. It’s big brother CM15A is not
anywhere near as reliable as it’s little
Bro, the CM11A.

We're finalizing changes for the next update.
Because they include a CM15A driver change,
we have to wait for the driver to be tested
and signed. Once the driver approval is
complete we'll release the update.  I'm
hoping this will be next week, but I can't be
sure of that.

The update will also include fixes for
RF-based module operation in timers and
macros, fixes for a conditional timer
problem, and fixes for the Activity Monitor
weirdness that everyone has seen. We also
will make the SDK work again.

We did release a version 3.181 as part of the
Video Plug-in beta, so the next release will
be 3.182, or maybe 3.183 if we do another
video beta release.

RobotMakerMickey: Don't expect things to
happen when you want them to. Just because
updates were released every week previously
doesn't mean that they will continue to be
released in the same interval in the
future - keep your shorts on. Things will
come when they come - if problems creep up
then an update will be delayed. Updates
happen when they happen not when you want
them to happen and not on a timed schedule.
I would imagine that X10 has had enough
grief over what was released in the past
that they are taking more time to test the
changes before releasing the update to us.

I'm having problems with the CM15A. I can't
seem to get the timers to activate two
simple macros for more then three days at a
time. Works okay for a day or two and then I
have to reconnect to computer and download
to CM15A again. Is this a problem with the
CM15A or a software problem that will be
corrected with updates?

Great, I upgraded the AHP software and now
my CM15A does not respond to any of the
remotes that worked up until the minute
before I ran the "upgrade"!! What gives?
Yes, I have rebooted the PC, disonected
everything, batteriers out... the whole nine
yards.

Ray: Did you check to see if the Transceiver
House Code box for your house code is
selected under the -Tools- Hardware
Configuration? Downloads sometimes reset
this and your remotes won't respond until
you go back in to Active Home Pro and reset
your house code.

When they introduced the AUTO TRANSCEIVE
programming into AHP they couldn't know
what people wanted to do - so they had to
leave it to you to make the update to your
datafile. The update is working as was
expected - a lot of people did not make the
connection that additional information was
required of the user not of the programmer.

Wrong. I am a programmer, all they had to do
was add a modal dialog to give the user an
option of changing the settings. Basically
thye broke my settings. There were no
warnings to that effect. Sloppy work. Sorry,
thats the way it is.

I can't even register my Active Home Pro - I
put in the order number followed by a -1 as
instructed but my registration attempt is
rejected.  Also, when trying to update, I
get a msg. stating that it expected a file
of a certain size, but the file it got was
smaller so it couldnt' download the update.
I called x10, the person was very impatient,
and acted as if I didn't know what I was
doing.  I did what he told me but the
problems still remain.  Help!

Bill: Try downloading the update file
directly from here:

http://software.x10.com/pub/applications/activehome/ahp_updt.exe

When registering, make sure the registration
code is exactly like you got in the e-mail --
including capitalization of letters if there
are any.
