I did not read all of the other entries, so I do not know if anyone else has a similar idea.

I am in the process of implementing video and audio observation into interesting and fun areas of my 0-gauge model railroad layout.  Current tests include remote observation and control of freight and engine yard operations, an on-board train camera (audio adds a lot here), and overall multi-angle action views.  I still have more tests and more equipment to purchase before it could be considered fully operational, but so far, I am having a lot of fun with the idea.  Even my wife thinks it’s cute.  [Now, we can monitor the stealthy approach of the evil train-destroying cat-demons!]

The added versatility of the Sentinel camera would allow overall remote controlled monitoring of the entire layout with the ability to zoom in on potential trouble areas or specific operations status.  Whatever the level of system intricacy I ultimately achieve, I know it will be incredibly enjoyable!

I use x10 to save money.  Just about all my "wall warts" power supplies are controlled by x10 appl or wall outlet units. I use several unit codes to do this, one to turn off phone units (all but one phone) each night and weekends when we are gone.   Another code to switch my computer things off at times when I am not using them.  Also battery chargers are only turned on during use. Timers are used to auto switch some that are daily.  several wall power supplies can be plugged into a power strip and controled by one x10 unit.
At Quick count I can save about 250 watts, 8 plus hours per day, not to mention the safety factor.

One of my business trips took place a few years ago during the winter, which sometimes does get below freezing in my area of Florida. I had planted several new and delicate fruit trees that fall and was worried about protecting them during any freezes. X10 to the rescue! I built cages out of 2x2 wood and covered it with clear plastic. Inside each enclosure I placed a heat lamp mounted in a spike bottom lamp holder and ran extension cords back to a pair of outdoor outlets. I replaced the outlets with X10 outlet modules and hooked up my X10 telephone responder. While I was on my trip in California, I checked on the weather every evening with my laptop using the internet. If I saw that it was going to get close to or below freezing that night, I called the telephone responder with my cell phone. I could then turn on my heat lamps and protect my plants. It worked perfectly and amused the neighbors quite a bit!

My wife and I live in a condo community on the ground floor.  We love our place, and in the summer, we like to have our windows open to let the cool breeze blow through.

One drawback is we have cats all over who love the solitude of our landscaping to have their "love sessions" when they're in heat.

So regularly, I have been awakened by cats having their loud screaming moments of romance beneath my window.  Aggravating!

I love animals, and wouldn't want to hurt any of them (although, sometimes in the middle of the night, I've had moments of weakness where I wished all sorts of evil on them).

So instead of going on a cat-hunt rampage, I rigged a system together to encourage them to take their noise elsewhere.

I used an X10 outdoor motion sensor, and X10 appliance transiever, and a solenoid from an old dishwater.  Put them all together inside a waterproof box mounted on a 4x4 post and now I have a small sprinkler system than turns itself on for about 2 mintues and mists the entire area beneath my window whenever a cat moves in to the 'love shack'.  :)

They scurry off unharmed but unhappy about being moistened, and I get my sleep.  Win win!

My plants are very happy too.  ;D

Our new travel trailer needed a backup camera.  Using an old wireless X10 camera from a grab bag purchased years ago, I rigged this system to meet the need.  It is battery-powered and can be affixed at any flat location on the trailer by means of the large suction cups visible in the photo.  The photo shows the system, affixed and functioning, on our living room window.

The system transmits to an X10 receiver, which displays on a 7" LCD monitor in our tow vehicle.  The system is then removed and stored for road travel.  New X10 cameras don't require a separate transmitter, so they would make a superior system.  However, the prototype using the older camera system proves the concept.

I own a autobodyshop , its 2 blocks away. I have a total of 8 wired and wireless X10 cameras setup there. I have a Wifi bridge setup and I can view all 8 cameras remotely. Turn on/off lights to look like someone is there at times they are not.
Having the cameras has cut crime on the whole block considerably,I have helped some neighbors with problems they have had. My lease expired and I let the bodyshop go. The day after I took down the cameras my shop was burglarized ! Goes to show how scared the crimminals were of my cameras. Luckily I already had most of my stuff removed but I still lost alot of stuff.
Nevertheless I now have the 8 cameras setup at my home. You cannot run a business in our city without some protection like this.

HELLO, I AM MOISES GONZALEZ. I USE the X-10 PRODUCTS OF the FOLLOWING WAY:
I HAVE INSTALLED IN MY PC THE SOFTWARE ACTIVE- HOME PRO. I HAVE INSTALLED IN MY HOME A CONSOLE ALARM WITH  DOOR AND WINDOWS SENSORS IN EACH ONE OF THE DOORS AND WINDOWS IN MY HOUSE.  I HAVE INSTALLED SENSORS OF MOVEMENT IN EACH INDOOR ROOM  AND IN THE OUTSIDE . ALL MY LIGHTS ARE CONTROLLED WITH TIMERS AND SENSORS OF MOVEMENT. I HAVE IN ADDITION IN THE MAIN ROOMS A TV OR VIDEO SCREEN, CAMERAS WITH BASE NINJA ROBOTICS AND AUDIO SYSTEMS OF SUCH FORM THAT REMOTELY I CAN ACCESS TO EACH ROOM AND HAVE COMMUNICATION WITH MY BEINGS WANTED IN VIDEOCONFERENCIA SESSIONS IN WHERE MY VOICE IS LISTENED TO IN THE SYSTEM OF AUDIO WHICH I HAVE INTEGRATED WIRELESSLY CONTROLLED FROM THE PC AND THE ACTIVEHOME PRO WITH THE HELP OF A SOFTWARE AS THE MESSENGER. THEY LISTEN AND SEE TO ME FROM ANY ROOM AND I SEE THEM AND I REMOTELY LISTEN TO THEM FROM MY OFFICE IN THE WORK.

FOR EXAMPLE:
I AM IN MY OFFICE AND I NEED TO CONNECT ITSELF WITH MY WIFE, THEN I ENTER VIA OF ACTIVEHOME-PRO REMOTELY AND I REVIEW BY MEANS OF THE CAMERAS EACH ROOM UNTIL I FOUND THAT WHERE THIS  IS MY WIFE. I ALSO SEE IF THERE ARE PEOPLE IN ANOTHER ROOM WHO COULD INTERRUPT THE PRIVACY OF MY COMMUNICATION, THEN REMOTELY I DISCONNECT THE AUDIO TVS AND OF THOSE ROOMS AND LEAVE CONNECTED SINGLE THE AUDIO SYSTEM OF AND VIDEO WHERE THIS MY WIFE. VIA ACTIVEHOME-PRO I SOUND AN HORN OF WARNING OF CALL AND REMOTELY I ON  THE TV AND SYSTEM OF AUDIO OF THE ROOM WHERE SHE THIS SO THAT SHE CAN SEE ME AND HEAR TO ME, IN THE SAME WAY REMOTELY I CAN SEE IT AND HEAR VIA ACTIVEHOME-PRO. SHE CAN SEE ME AND HEAR VIA MESSENGER. ONCE CONFERENCE FINISHES TO THE VIDEO I CAN RETURN TO ON THE AUDIO AND VIDEO OF OTHER ROOMS ACCORDING TO REQUIRES MYSELF.
THIS ALLOWS ME TO REMOTELY HAVE A TOTAL CONTROL OF MY HOME.
ALSO WHEN WE WENT ON A TRIP WE CAN HAVE THIS SAME REMOTE MONITORING.

ALL MY LIGHTS I CAN CONTROL THEM WITH TIMERS AND SENSORS OF MOVEMENT.
MY SYSTEM OF AUDIO IS ON  IN EACH ROOM WHEN IT DETECTS MOVEMENT AND IF IT IS AT NIGHT THE LIGHT IT ALSO IS ON AND IT OFF  WITH MOVEMENT SENSORS. OF EQUAL WAY WE HAVE THE OPTION TO ON AND TO OFF LIGHTS LOCALLY. IN THE OUTSIDE WE HAVE MONITORING  WITH CAMERAS AROUND HOUSE  AND THE SENSORS IN DOORS AND WINDOWS LEAVE REGISTRY IN OUR CONSOLE WHENEVER THESE ARE OPENED.
WHEN SOMEBODY ARRIVES AT THE DOOR OF HOME , A MOV SENSOR. IT DETECTS, IT SOUNDS AN GENTLY HORN  AND THE SCREENS OF EACH ROOM ONS  SHOWING THE IMAGE OF THE PERSON WHO THIS TO THE DOOR.

I ALSO HAVE IN THE ROOM AND IN YOU RECHAMBER OPENING CONTROLLER AND CLOSES OF THE CURTAINS ACCORDING TO THE HOUR OF THE DAY.

WHEN I WANT TO SEE TV. JUST BY A BUTTON I CONTROL THE ILLUMINATION OF THE ROOMS OF TV, THE ON OF THE PLASMA SCREEN AS WELL AS THE CLOSING OF THE CURTAINS AND THE CONTROL OF TEMPERATURE OF THE ACONDITIONED AIR THIS I MAKE BY MEANS OF THE ACTIVEHOME AND REMOTE CONTROL

THE SAME FUNCTION IF I WANT TO LEARN MUSIC.

BEST REGARDS

Have you ever been frustrated with Bathroom exhaust fans....people don't shut them off...or they should Use them when you know what...phew!...Well here is the answer....Use an X-10 inductor module for the switch..(take out the manual switch)...give it an address...then let your imagination go wild....Use a macro....Lets see if someone is in the bathroom for more than 3-4 minutes...they probably doing their business.....Have the X10 switch the Fan on ....exhaust for about 5-6 minutes...and then switch off.   Oh the Power!...you won't have to yell "shut the bathroom exhaust fan" cause it will shut off.....Saving electric of course is always the pay-off.....Now...stay with me in the Bathroom....Your kid takes a hot steamy shower and never puts the exhaust fan on....your walls mildew...the mirror is useless...all the humidity is not good for the structure of the bathroom.....you can keep the application as above..or install a separate Sensor that lets the X10 Activehome know someone is taking a shower....simpler that way....Keep the exhaust running for about 5-6 minutes after it doesn't sense someone in the shower and your walls are dry and house is humid free...AHHH!!!!...One thing....especially for guests...let them know they are in the house of the future andthat the sensor is not a camera.....you wouldn't believe how many guests thought the eagle sensor was a camera...Show them a sensor...so they feel comfortable....you don't want to wait for the scream  :o

When you announce the Sensor Chime will be nice have test buttom on the page for customers ear how will sound your next door bell.  Better if you design it with different tones!!.  Design a product called " gradual grow home automation, security and surveillance kit " mean "all in one" first you buy a module one, then module two.... the idea is at the all modules work together like a full featured system,  security, automation, surveillance and energy saver.

Thank You.

You should market your wireless camera systems to elementary schools throughout the country. Schools could place them in problem spots. Schools operate on budgets and with your prices people would vote for it.

Good Luck

id use the x10 to keep an eye on the apartment complex and my friends house the apartment has a lady who has carbon monoxide poisoning and she has been living there about four months and has been robbed by drug addicts that run in and grab what they can and run off i live about a block away without zoom i cant really see her door to well so we cant try to stop them cause it happens the first time a 3 o'clock am  the next time at 5 pm and my friend house she has a young boy and the apartment has a big swimming pool and the people leave the ladder in all the time and don't watch for the little kids that could climb in we have asked them to take the ladder out and watch to be sure that the kids don't get into the pool but they don't give us the time of day so we keep a eye on the place cause I've lost a family member like that he fell in the pool and the mother looked all over for him but he was at the bottom of the pool they found him two days later Robert butler was his name he was 4 thanks for reading
you need to make a x10 camera with a spot light behind it to light up the area that it points in then you can spot light someone in your yard and see them without night vision make it move like the ninja and a extra button to light up the light using a pentabeam so it dont break up in the center from far away i have a remote controlled search light that i use behind my camera that works great one nigh there was a shooting in the neighborhood and my friend called and asked me to shine the light down the alley cause he couldnt see who ws out there so i did and the guys thought it was the cops coming so they split running so it saved my friends life cause if he would have came down his stairs he would have got shot so thats my idea and the way id utilize the sentinal camera but i would not need the light thanks

I own a cab company and this is why and how I use my X-10; Since I bought the cab company there's been an ongoing problem that wastes my time and money. People would call for the taxi but they never kept an eye out for it or they started talking to others or they had too much to drink and just forgot they called... We would try to call them when we arrived but the music was always to loud for them to hear us so we would have to sit and wait until they showed or we gave up and left.  My solution was to buy remote controls for each cab and build a small box with several separate compartments in it then I wired the box, added a transceiver, added as many lamp modules as I needed for the different message compartments, then using lexan I applied signage to each compartment front...for instance... when the cab drives up to the business entrance the driver presses the remote button that lights up the compartment that says " THE TAXI IS HERE" or " THE TAXI LEAVES IN 5 MINUTES" OR any other custom message I want to apply to the light box.... This has been a GREAT SUCCESS because we no longer have to wait on customers, they don't have to stand outside in the weather, everything moves faster so service is better.  I have signs in 4 bars and 1 restaurant and can expand at will...the business owners like it too because their customers don't complain about waiting or being left behind... THANKS SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH  X-10...russ
