Camera to the VCR
« on: November 18, 2007, 07:55:09 AM »

I was wondering if there is an add on which would activate the VCR only when the camera is on? The way I understand it  the VCR must run continously and would stop recording when the tape reached its end.

Is this correct?

Any information will be appreciated.

X-10's UX23A "VCR Commander II" can start the VCR recording when it receives an X10 RF signal from a motion detector and will stop the recording 5 minutes later.

X10 on Windows is like that.

Thanks for the information.

I see there are two different types. One has a sencor the other one does not. Which one do I need?

As far as I know there's only one type of UX23A, however X10 often bundles a motion sensor with the UX23A in a package deal.

In any event both items can often be purchased from authorized X10 reseller stores on eBay at a considerable saving over list price, e.g., see http://stores.ebay.com/The-Home-Automation-Store
Note: I would avoid purchasing this type of device from other than X10 or an authorized X10 reseller - I've been bitten too often by intermittent failures in X10 devices purchased from surplus dealers.
