AC current sensor
« on: December 20, 2007, 09:43:04 PM »

Anybody know of an AC current sensor I can hook up to a Powerflash? I would like to have BVC tell me when the dryer is on and off. I did searches, and Smarthome had one but it's discontinued. Nothing on E-Bay.

(My dryer has an "audible" alert when it's done. However I want to hear "Callie" tell me)

Check out this post from BraveSirRobbin in the CocoonTech forum:

How to monitor an appliance on/off status via an X-10 signal.

Really informative; I use a powerflash and the CR Magnetics model 2019 CT to monitor and provide pool pump run status.

Merry Christmas.

Thanks for the information, and the link. I just ordered a model 19 from them.  I believe this is just what I was looking for.

Here's a picture of the current sensor before I taped it up. It senses a pull of 2 amps, and sends a low voltage to the Powerflash.  If you have an appliance that pulls less than two amps, each time you loop the "hot" wire through the sensor it will cut the sensoring by one half. I haven't tried that yet, but that's what my information says.
It works perfectly with my dryer.

Good work Danny ("dahur").  That earned a 'helpful' from me.

Yesterday it worked.
Today it doesn't work.
X10 on Windows is like that.
