Replacement Lens Caps
« on: March 21, 2006, 10:22:30 AM »

I am adding a couple outdoor cameras (XC18A) to my system, which I received from a friend.  My friend has no idea where the lens caps went.  I contacted X10 support and they tell me they don't sell replacement caps.  Does anyone know where I can get a couple replacements.  Thx!

If your refering to the protective clear plastic cap that fits over the lense its self I found the cams to have a better pic with out them on! ;) :)

That's exactly what I am referring to.  I always just assumed that I would be risking the health of the camera if the cap wasn't installed, considing all the rain and snow where I live.  It can't be good to get water in the lens.

I've ran my wired cam outside under an over hang for over 6 years without one in fact I had to remove it as I was getting a glare with it on!
My cam instructions said not for outside use but under the over hang seems to be enough protection screws have all rusted but other than that and faint image eched into the pic(not a big deal as it is on the same thing) everything works as good as day one! ;) :)

I just pull them off and throw them away. I don't think the camera is intended to be used with it on.

I replaced one of my lost lens caps with a top of a hair spray bottle. It fit perfectly!
