X10 DOESN'T SUPPORT Vista OS? WHAT, IS IT LIKE 1987?
« on: June 26, 2008, 04:51:43 PM »

I HAVE EMAILED X10 SUPPORT SEVERAL TIMES ONLY TO BE IGNORED....................IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN VIEW MY CAMERAS ONLINE IF I HAVE VISTA?  I GOT THE XRAY THING AND WHEN I WENT TO DOWNLOAD SOFTWARE THERE WAS NO OPTION.
SEEMS LIKE X10 WAS "COOL IN THE 80'S".  PROBABLY A ONE MAN SHOW SINCE NO ONE EVER REPLIES AND THE DRIVER'S HAD NO UPDATE SINCE 2004!  SO SAVE YOUR $$ AND GO FIND SMALLER CAMERAS WITH SUPPORTED TECHNOLOGY ELSEWHERE, CAUSE THIS AIN'T THE RIGHT PLACE.  YEAH, I GOT CAMERAS, BUT THERE ARE WIRES AND AC ADAPTERS EVERYWHERE!  AND NIGHT VISION IS THE BEST WAY TO GO OR ELSE WHAT'S THE POINT?  X10- U SUCK AT CUSTOMER SERVICE!  THANKS FOR NOTHING! # >*<

Think most feel the same one getting camera some where else. But Like all of X10 online services they only work half the time.

Try using remote desktop that vista has to view all of your computer online not just x10 software. There are also lots of remote access programs that works great. I use www.logmein.com and its free.

Welcome to the forum! As a point of posting etiquette, please do not use all caps. It equates to screaming and is difficult to read. Also keep in mind that while X10 personal do sometimes read posts here, they do not often respond here or use it as a customer service tool. This forum is run mostly by X10 users like yourself. Some have particular skills and others like myself have learned a lot the hard way with Murphy at our side every step of the way.

X10 has been painfully slow to acknowledge the existence of Vista. I suppose at some point as more and more people get new Vista systems they'll have to finally do something but surprisingly they haven't yet.

Some here have found work arounds but for remote computer access LogMeIn.com is one of the best.

:) Murphy is my beta testing pal. He helps me find problems whether I like it or not. :)

..............  AND NIGHT VISION IS THE BEST WAY TO GO OR ELSE WHAT'S THE POINT?

Welcome to the forums sophia071. Looks like jsnlong1979 and steven r was able to answer your technical questions with helpful info.

About using night-vision [IR] cameras for home security... I am sure they have a place. But remember... to deter crime... cameras must be seen. Good lighting and a visible camera monitoring system are a proven combination.
