Beware the Voltage!
« on: August 30, 2008, 07:32:52 AM »

I've had X10 for 9 months.  I bought a case of AA's and AAA's from Amazon.  Samsung's PLEOMAX Alkaline.
This past week I noticed my farthest DS10A's not reporting in to AHP correctly all the time.

New batteries and everything works again.  And, yes, I've ordered a battery meter.

Good alkalines are "supposed" to last up to 2 years. :D

I just post this here for others - when you see what used to work - start not working or get intermittent, one of the things to check is the batteries - no matter how old they are...

Good point. Try new batteries is an easy test.
As for 2 years;that depends on the actual load on the batteries. 9 months maybe good for a motion sensor if very active and transmitting frequently.
Also the motion sensor may still be fine with the old batteries;if it was closer to the receiver. Many factors can change things.
