MH problems with CM15A
« on: April 11, 2009, 05:49:02 PM »

Hi All

I want to run X10 with MisterHouse on my Dell Laptop running Kubuntu 8.04, using a CM15A module.  I have spent way too many hours trying a variety of things, all to no avail.

Latest, I found in this forum http://forums.x10.com/index.php?topic=15049.0 instructions to make the compile of the driver work.  I performed make , with these 2 messages.
  Building modules, stage 2.
  MODPOST 1 modules

Next I performed sudo insmod cm15a.ko with no messages returned, but the following noted from messages:
Apr 11 17:33:48 kd1yv11 kernel: [ 1141.535605] usbcore: registered new interface driver cm15a
Apr 11 17:33:48 kd1yv11 kernel: [ 1141.535620] ~/applications/cm15a-driver/driver/linux-2.6/cm15a.c: X                            10 CM15A USB Driver v0.01

and if I lsmod | grep cm15, it shows this:
cm15a                  11776  0
usbcore               146412  4 cm15a,ehci_hcd,uhci_hcd

Now I plug in my cm15a via USB, and note the following from messages:
Apr 11 17:38:19 kd1yv11 kernel: [ 1339.226099] usb 4-6: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 2
Apr 11 17:38:20 kd1yv11 kernel: [ 1339.666091] usb 4-6.4: new low speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 4
Apr 11 17:38:20 kd1yv11 kernel: [ 1339.763810] usb 4-6.4: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
Apr 11 17:38:20 kd1yv11 kernel: [ 1339.765063] ~/applications/cm15a-driver/driver/linux-2.6/cm15a.c: Cm15a USB #240 now attached to major 180 minor 240

lsusb now shows
Bus 004 Device 004: ID 0bc7:0001 X10 Wireless Technology, Inc.

so I startup MisterHouse using mhl.  This is where I think the problems are clearly shown:
Reading code_dirs: ./../code/test ./../code/common
04/11/09 05:41:39 PM Reading 18 code files
04/11/09 05:41:39 PM Evaluating user code
Warning: Dummy_Interface #0: Creating dummy interface for id=B1, state= and interface=.
Warning: Dummy_Interface #1: Creating dummy interface for id=A1, state= and interface=.
Warning: Dummy_Interface #2: Creating dummy interface for id=A2, state= and interface=.
and so on

When I access mh from localhost, and try to turn a light off or on, the mh web interface acts as if it is working correctly; however, the light never goes on or off, and the mhl console shows as follows:
Warning: Dummy_Interface #1: trying to set state off
Warning: Dummy_Interface #1: trying to set state on
Warning: Dummy_Interface #1: trying to set state off
Warning: Dummy_Interface #1: trying to set state on

Can anybody tell me where to look next?   B:(

Thanks
JimR
