I want my BVC

.... I just don't get it I guess.

And it would be my guess that you never will.  The majority of the discussion in the last few days have centered around one poster's position against the majority of the members here.  I suggest that fact should be taken as a hint.

Descretion is the better part of virtue.

Point well taken Knightrider.  Besides, talking about HA is much more interesting.

X10 have chosen to use naked females for the ads. I don't like it, and so I choose not to visit their main website - the internet equivalent of the channel flipper.

There are worse things, in my opinion, that they could use for their ads. Imagine the discussions that would ensue if they decided to 'promote' their product with pictures of....

Corpses - male, female or animals,
Religeous icons - Christian, Satanic or Muslim,
Semi naked men or children (although that's probably illegal)
Disabled people (if that's the politically correct terminology these days),
Cars - brings back the Dodge vs Ford arguments,
Racial Stereotypes - Jamaican drug dealers, Italian designers, overweight Americans, stupid upper class English,
etc.

Whatever they choose to adorn their pages with will draw comments from people disliking the content. It really only becomes an issue when someone fanatically defends their decision to the point of insulting others and appearing maniacal in the process - apologies if you think this refers to you, but if you think this *does* refer to you then there may be some truth in it.

[rhetoric question ON]
Here's a thought... Why don't they use an advertising campaign that puts more focus on the product (specifications, uses, sizes, comparisons) and less focus on the irrelevant pictures?
[rhetoric question OFF]

People are people. Disagreements and differences are what make things interesting, but only up to a point. Vehemently defending your view will often get people pissed off, just like TV evangelism  laugh (you'll have to excuse me, I'm English and often need to point out my jokes).

Can we play nice now?

I just got my Smarthome catalog in the mail today. It, like their site, is packed with products and information. Their sales seem to be doing well without the need attach pictures of revealing models.

Is there another reseller of x10 products?  I like the idea of trying out a low cost (possibly temporary) solution for a mobile video project, but there is NO WAY I am sending my business manager to this ridiculous looking website.  Especially after seeing postings about the "racy" or risqué email solicitations.  It is sad to say, but I believe spending a few bucks more would be worth it in this case if you are recommending a purchase for a company.  I guess these products are mostly for entertainment, but there seems to be some nice possibilites with x10's pan/tilt concepts.

Yes there are other X10 dealers. Some have stores on EBay. Some are independent web vendors.
Do a Google search for X10 or X10 Dealers

I used a modified Ninja (pan and tilt) as well as a modified X10 camera for a "mobile project" and it worked fine.

but there is NO WAY I am sending my business manager to this ridiculous looking website.  Especially after seeing postings about the "racy" or risqué email solicitations.

I was one of BIGGEST and LOUDEST complainers (I used large fonts and caps) about the "racy" WebSite and Email. But I am also one of the first to notice X10 has cleaned up there act a LOT.

Wrong Answer folks, he's frustrated as i am.
I need 8 cameras, digital wireless, with night vision, and 5.8 gb's, yet from what i read and searched for, you don't offer it.
I feel you might only sell high commission products, that offer little, unless your watching a baby or birds 10' away.
Few if any blogs were solved i noticed. Also, x10 is not compatible with Apple macintosh nor do you have night vision according to your Representative. You get what you pay for, and it continues.
I'll hire a local professional to buy from and install after reading x10 wooos, at least I'll have a little satisfaction if he rips me locally, if so,  I'll destroy this reputation. One more thing; only dinosaurs use cable you specialist you. Have a nice day.

You wasted my time!

In the event you ever return, you are ranting on the X10 Users Forum. X10 corp doesn't live here...or at least we never hear from them. We are all users here.
Additionally your rant is off the mark. It doesn't make sense to rant because a company doesn't offer what you want. It would be like me sending rants to the new Government Motors whining that they do not sell SUVs with satellite tracking entertainment systems.

Look for another manufacturer and be prepared to pay a lot more.

BTW:
It's 5.8 gHz, not 5.8 gb.

There are many software programs out there that marry a Mac to X10 ("XTension" is a great one).

And you are dead wrong about only dinosaurs using cable, Coax cable for video transmission is superior to Cat 5, twisted pair, 2.4 gHz, 5.8 gHz, 18 gHz, microwave, etc. However cable is inferior to fiber (and that isn’t the oatmeal kind).

This forum helps many people. Rarely does someone who really tries.. not find a solution. If you were concerned that we wouldn't be able to feel the anger in your words... trust me we could. I hope you find some help with that problem.

If you have more money than time... reading and learning would be an expense waste. However... I would advise you to invest a little time to learn a bit more about cameras and surveillance/security systems. You really don't seem to have acquired enough knowledge... yet.
