Tuicemen -  (Curious name... I keep thinking Juiceman...)

How about a plug-in that lets me use this CM-19...  It is of little use without Vanguard.

nybuck well I'm not sure what you want to do that PC Companion can't do now with the CM19. ::) :'
Most SDK written software can use the CM19 in some respect.

Well I guess I should try it!   ;D

I have downloaded your software, and I have a CM11A and a CM19A.  I never bought a CM15A as the HA craze never really grabbed me...  I use a 3rd party video capture card and DVR software, and palmpad stuff...  No real home automation here...   :P

I guess I was looking to turn on/off lights, maybe pan/tilt my ninja...

Well it should pan & tilt your Cameras. PC Companion was primarily designed for the CM15A but any RF sends will work with the CM19A and any RF receives will be seen and used. I believe most of the plugins will work with a CM19A as well.
Some RF signals don't have a PLC equivalent but I have used a CM19 with PC Companion I just can't remember exactly what I tested it with. ::) :'

Are you serious? HA isn't [never has been] a craze. Why would you even read this thread [let alone post] if your not interested?

Yes.
Maybe to see what I can do with the hardware I bought and never installed.   ???

I've often thought... "The use of Home Automation is limited... only by our imaginations". Looking for new ideas on how to use X10 is what brought me to the forum as well. That's why so many of my posts contain links as well.

Well, one could attempt to add disclaimers as to all of the so called "practical limits", but, this would not only require the services of an expensive lawyer, but also, the resulting language would be way too long for a "signature line" on this forum software!   rofl   >*<

In the real world, the only constant is change.

Well it's true... everything costs something. Sometimes lights [accidentally or purposely] left on, or a home left less than secure [in these times] cost far more than automating. And it is nearly impossible to calculate the saving from lights that automatically light your way.... therefore preventing an accidental fall. But I am a believer in automation... and making my point here is truly preaching to the choir.

But this thread is about adding functionality to Home Automation setups using these simple inexpensive softwares... like PC Companion. I know for a fact that these tiny little user created software products [like PCC] can greatly enhance the Home Automation experience.

I think most of us see some normal resistance to automation from our spouses. But most of us also see WAF rise to levels where spouses make requests and/or suggestions to our setups. Its all part of the process.

Dave -

You truly are preaching to the choir - practically anywhere on this board.   :'

I am also certain that PC Companion adds a great deal of flexibility and usefullness to a home automation setup.

I apologize for the blasphemy of calling Home Automation a "Craze".  Perhaps a bad choice of words...  What I meant was that I haven't been bitten by the same HA Bug that others may have - I am mainly using the cameras, and are particularly fond of the Floodcam.  Like most, I have several (OK, MANY) modules that I have not implemented yet.

I apologize to Tuicemen for hijacking his thread - but I think I deserve a "thank you" for keeping it on the top!!   ;D

....... I am mainly using the cameras, and are particularly fond of the Floodcam.

I use both X10 and other brand security cameras. I have yet to try a FloodCam..yet... although I really like the concept. My favorite setup is a big chunky IR camera (it glows pinkish at night) mounted on a ninja. Whereas I am not really a fan of the IR cameras (as I prefer motion sensor - additional lighting). I do like the "in your face.. this area is monitored" approach.

No Apology needed!
And thank you ! ;)
It is true that PC Companion can do many things, how ever not everything!
But I'm working on it. rofl
There are many good thirdparty SDK built programs out there.
I'm sure one of which will suit your needs.
But don't try just one, give them all ago, if they sound interesting they may get the job done! ;)

I think a politically correct, safe, non-offensive signature would be:

"The use of Home Automation is Limited... Mostly by your imagination, budget, soon-to-be ex-spouse, time, creativity, knowledge of electronics, programming ability, and access to a suitable work space."

I think that would be closer to the truth...  Maybe I will add that to my signature....   ;D
