We need more information!!!! >*< >*< >*<
What do you mean by control?
What OS do you have Vanguard installed on?
Are you getting any error messages?
Can you Connect to the Vanguard Server?
The more information you can supply the quicker a solution can be found!
If there is one ::) :'

okay

I have an xplap desktop - the firewall is disable.

I have xcam2

I can't connect to the vanguard site over the internet or control the camera with the vanguard software

I can't even uninstall it.  I get a message saying it can't find the log.  I delete all of the x10 folders and do a reinstall and nothing.

I want to try some other software to see the cam over the internet but I can't since the vangaurd is controlling the video driver
so the screen on the other software including windows movie make is blurry.

so far is seems that all of the x10 products suck and from what I have read so far no one can get the vanguard software working.

I am debating wheither or not to return it along with the other x10 products I bought

Not So!  ;)
Just is more users post to complain then post to state it is working and how they got to that point! :(
In order to connect to the Vanguard site you need to enable pop ups so Java can be installed
this is need on your PC! you also must supply your user Id from Vanguard inorder to connect remotely

Vanguard only controls the video driver while it is open!
The fact that you can even get a image in any other program indicates it doesn't have control!
Windows only allows one program to use the USB capture device at one time.

Chances are you have the wrong driver for the USB capture !
Do you have the VA11A or the VA12A?
If you have the VA12A you need the updated drivers found  hereX10 Drivers:

You have to stop All the X10 services from running in windows before you can remove everything!
All that you  have stated you have is a camera and the software!
If this is all you have  then you are missing some key Hardware for controlling!
I assume you have a VA11 or VA12 but do you have A CM19A and a transceiver? (I think they come with a TM751  ??? )
What is all the Hardware that came with your order?  >*<
 Supply model numbers!

I have va12 and windows recognized the video driver correctly

I was told by support that the xcam can not zoom in or out

I did stop all services and process x10 related and I can use the other software I got because base on what tech support told be

Their software is the only one that works with the va12a drivers.

I would need another USB video digitizer unit to plug the wireless receiver in order to use the web cam with another webcam software

Yes this is true.

Their software is the only one that works with the va12a drivers.
Not so! Others have it working with other software though not 100% and they may be using X10s drivers to make it work ??? ::) :'

I have the xcam2 and the vanguard software.

I iike some one to ether to recommend another software that would work with the video usb capture device 12va that I have or recommend another usb video capture adapter device that would work with the xcam2 and wirless receiver.

When I use the hardware with window movie maker or other webcam software it comes out fuzzy with line accrossit

and I perfer to find another piece of software and keep the hardware .  The vanguard software  server never works for me.

Currently when ever I try to connect to vanguard server I get an IE  add prompt and I can never get IE brower to work with add on dll I am getting prompert to allow and then the browser crashes.

If Vanguard Displays the cam correctly  you just can't view it over the internet! Your best bet would be to get a free program like RealVNC
That's what most users are doing! ::) :'
Camera software is a dime a dozen doing a goggle search will turn up hundreds of options!
It may take a while for you to find one that works with the VA12A and does what you want!
If you want lots of program options ditch the VA12A! :(
But then again hopefully someone will chime in with a Program that works for them! ;)
