Just an idea!! Why not use "Voice Dial" like commands?
« on: May 16, 2009, 07:59:04 AM »

Hello,

Just an idea!! Why not use "Voice Dial" like commands?
We could record our own voice and than associate it to a X10 command.
This would turn the software accessible to EVERY SINGLE language.

For example, I record my voice telling "Cortina do escritório ligado (Office courtin on)" and than I tell the software that this recorded sound will make x10 to make acommand like "A11 ON".

This would be a SUPER improvement on this software.
Imagine the possibilities...

All the best,

........... For example, I record my voice telling "Cortina do escritório ligado (Office courtin on)" and than I tell the software that this recorded sound will make x10 to make acommand like "A11 ON".

I believe that is called comparative recognition. Spoken words or phrases are compared to prerecorded ones for selected actions. That form of voice recognition is commonly used in remote controls. I own an Invoca remote control that works that way... and does an impressive job too. There are other such higher end remotes.

I have long controlled my X10 setup using BVC.. and I am a BIG fan of speech recognition. Adding the extra "smarts" of a computer to my Home Automation setup with voice control is awesome. But as an alternate method many of the currently available speech recognition/comparative recognition remote controls also send X10 IR commands. This could allow us to use a Infrared Mini-Controller (IR543) to convert these IR signals to X10 Power Line Commands.

Such a setup would have limitations. The IR543 only excepts commands for a single X10 House code (16 unit codes). I think using BVC with AHP, and the CM15A on a running HA computer, for its added software advantages would help. Be sure the remote you select has X10 compatible IR settings. I don't know of anyone to have done this as of yet... you would be a pioneer of sorts.
