help - need a linux application
« on: June 12, 2008, 04:40:48 PM »

I'm looking for a Linux application ... similar to "XRay Vision: Remote Surveillance from your PC" except for the Linux or UBUNTU OS.
It needs to update a Web page about every 30 minutes or when there is movement in the area to update the web page.
Anyone one know of a Linux application to do this? Or do I need to hire someone to write code to do this?
I don't think HeyU will update a web page.  I need it to update a weather web page for an small Airport.

thank U...
Doug

If you have a Linux script to update your web page, Heyu can execute that script when it receives an X10 signal or
periodically.

X10 on Windows is like that.

X10 does not support linux or help in any shape or form. You are better off googling and try to find a true linux user that is actively trying to hack the X10 products software to make a semi-working project.

The only source I have found is at http://www.linuxha.com/ but its out of date because X10 has refused to supply any info on its products for years to linux developers. X10 simply does not want anyone but winclick users to actually operate there products, (and that isn't a insult moderators -- just a true fact after reading this forum).

I think you are attributing to malevolence that which should more correctly be attributed to incompetence.  Consider that after all this time, the ActiveHome Pro software is still not fully compatible with the new design "Soft start" dimmer switches.

X-10 did publish the specs for the older CP290 and CM11A interfaces, and a number of Linux apps were written using them.

True, but your rant about X-10 didn't say that, and this forum category isn't restricted to "new stuff".

There's quite a few ways to do this on linux.  One you might take a look at - http://www.lavrsen.dk/twiki/bin/view/Motion/WebHome
