Advise Needed
« on: November 21, 2009, 07:16:35 AM »

Hi There,

This should be a simple one for you guy's but I'm really struggling to resolve it.  B:(

I have a plug socket with a light in it that is controlled by a light switch, when I turn this light switch on I want some other lights in different sockets to come on at the same time and I want to be able to turn these all off via a flat X10 controller near the bed

I have bought a light switch from ebay that I thought would do the job, but no luck. This seems to recieve signals but not send them.

I can turn everything on and off with the X-10 controller, but I cannot turn them all on/off with the light switch

Looking forward to your replies, I'll buy you a beer if you help me solve this  >!

Regards
Chris

Smarthome's Insteon and Icon switches can have an X10 Primary Address added to them. They do respond to X10 power line signals and send an X10 on and off from the local paddle or toggle button. The dimmer type when locally controlled send an X10 %Dim command that X10 modules don't understand.

Since you are controlling an outlet; a dimmer type should be avoided and a relay type used.

Do you have a neutral power wire in the switch box? They require a neutral.

Do you prefer a toggle or decorator type switch?

The switches are not in the typical X10 price range.  ::)

Yes I missed the -uk in your users name.
I downloaded the manual from the link you provided.
Will see what I can find out.
