x10 video sender problems
« on: December 14, 2009, 01:58:17 AM »

what do i do if i have my video sender hooked up and it works just great, except for i can't seem to change the channel on my cable box down stairs? I hooked up the IR emitter to my video sender and attached the emitters to the cable box IR Control input and went up stairs and held the setup button and let go when light stayed on then i clicked cable and entered the On Demand code, then i pushed the channel up button and the channel didn't change and nothing happens. Do i have to put in a different code or something?

We have seen reports of the emitters not being exactly in line with the devices IR receivers input.
What brand of cable box would be a big help in an answer.

It is hard to tell for sure... but you may be having a remote setup problem... not a video sender IR problem. Can you setup the remote in a less remote setting?

If remotely is the only way you can do that... then that's what you have. It would be easier I would think... to program the remote control ...THEN go remotely operated via the video sender/receiver.

Do (as Brian H already posted) make sure the emitters are exactly in line with the devices IR receivers input. Use a flashlight to see through the red plastic to make sure of the location of the IR ports.

You can't program to the video receiver... Program to the box/device you want to control. The video receiver will just transmitt the IR signal for you.
