4 camera wireless systems
« on: February 11, 2010, 10:25:20 PM »

I just purchased a 4 camera wireless systems from x10. I cant get these things to work to save my life. I have no other 2.4 products in the building. I am installing them for a customer of mine and I have always been suspect of wireless cameras. I am no novice but still cant get the cameras to work tried all different codes still nothing. I set camera 1 to code camera 2 to b and so on and get the same pic. I am going to try the trouble shooting again Friday. Just a quick lesson to all of my low voltage guys out there it's sooooooooooooo much worth the extra labor to run the wire for a hard wire system. wish me luck guys. I have used the python cameras hundreds of times for low cost applications with ok results so I am an x10 fan just not wireless fan as of now

The wireless cameras are switched by power line signals.
All the addressable power supplies should be set to the same House Code and Unit Code in a group of four. 1-4,5-8,9-12 or 13-16.
Turn one on the other three go off. A power line signal loss to the cameras could cause one to stay on and another one not to turn on.
What module are you using to switch the cameras?

The A-D channel setting picks the transmit frequency of the camera video. All four should be on the same channel as should the receiver.

Are you maybe trying to use four receivers and four cameras. Each on one of the A-D channels?

Hey, I just got the 3 camera set-up and having issues too.  Not a lot of directions in the box. I also set up alot of house entertainment and electronics, but this is got me.  I dont quite understand the white box with the antenna. What does that do? I have it on, plug in 2 of the camera's both on A, one on A1 the other on A2.  I still only get 1 image on my PC through Vanguard and do not see another camera view to chose from in on the drop down.  Then the white box pops and the image comes clearer.

So,

What channels do I need to have the camera's on A1 - A4
or

A1, A5, A9 ?? cause I want all three camera on at the same time.  I dont have a remote, just the vanguard software.

Please help!!

Is there an X10 number on the white box with antenna? Is it a TM751 by chance?
Don't confuse the Dials on the Addressable Power Supplies [House A-P and Unit 1-16] with the channel A-D frequencies the units can use to transmit and receive on.
You can not have more than one camera on at a time or they will interferer with each other.
The cameras work in groups of four. Same House Code A-P and Unit Code 1-4;5-8;9-12 or 13-16.
Turn one on the other three go off.

If the unit you have a question about is a TM751 it is used to send power line signals to the cameras to turn them on and off. From a remote or maybe a CM19A module connected to the computer.

Do you have an X10 module that connects to the computer? If so what module is it?

Okay, so this really doesnt do what i want i guess. I didnt get a remote, i just wanted to have a 3 camera setup all on at one time and be able to switch between them.  so, how do i switch between the camera's without a remote? Yes, the TM175 i have, and i have internet control center software, it looks like.

Thanks Brian!!

Yes, I got the usb video capture and then another usb with a box and small antenna but doesnt say anything about that one or what it does. The instructions are really awful to me. I have all the paperwork out and reading it multiple times, but just dont get it working.

I am thinking it maybe this device.
http://kbase.x10.com/wiki/CM19A

It can send and receive X10 RF commands. The TM751 can then receive the RF commands to change cameras and send the power line signals to the addressable camera power supplies.

I don't have any experience with the software. Though I believe it will control the cameras through the CM19A.
I am hoping a user with the software can give you added information.
I will keep poking around and see if anything more can be found.

There are some X10 How To Videos here and some more detailed instructions

Yes, that is it. so it is suppose to work with the white box and transfer power to the other camera's?  Is a camera suppose to be plugged into the TM751?  I really appreciate all your help. I will look over the how to's.

Thanks!

No cameras has to be connected to the TM751.

The camera power supplies are controlled by power line signals.
If the TM751 power line signals are not getting to the camera supplies they will not switch.
If the RF signal from the CM19A is not reaching the TM751 that also will cause the cameras not to switch.
Maybe trying to move the TM751 to a different outlet may give some test results.

Here are some links to troubleshooting X10 signal problems.
