iWatchout, VA12A and Vista
« on: April 05, 2010, 08:18:50 PM »

I have installed theiWatchout odule onto my AHP pro setup, and also the VA12A capture device and drivers (up to date).

The image(s) on the iWatchout section of the program are nearly white washed out "strobed" images... updating every second or so and not at all useable, or in most cases even recognizable unless they are in still mode, and even then pretty awful.

Is this a compatability issue or does someone have some experience with this?

If it is compatability, what then? If anything?

Thanks all for you assistance.

Do you know if the video receivers output looks OK on a TV?
Like take the receivers video and connect it to a TV with a Composite Video Input.
If the signal is bad from the receiver. Do you have anything like a wireless network or 2.4GHz. cordless phone?

Thanks, I should have added that. The picture looks fine on a TV, so that rules out a camera problem. Also I am running Vista Home premium, if that matters.

The picture on the multicam screen or even a single screen is a highly washed out (practically unrecognizable white screen)quick "paint" which quickly fades and is replaced by another one every second or so... I have described it as a strobe effect.

AHP and X-10 is the only UHF stuff running... no cordless etc. (Do have a cell phone though).

Thanks for the update.
Since the video is OK on a TV. Things like interference from things like a cordless phone and other known problem devices is not likely.

Things to check...
Right click the image and select video display options. Make sure the video standard selected is for your country. Then click the Video Prc Amp tab in that same window and try adjusting the output from the camera that way.
My 2 cents.

Well I have tried just about everything I know how to and no luck. I find it interesting that the VA12A has two driver folders for Vista - 32 bit and 64 bit but the contents are identical. Anyway I cannot get Iwatchout or my cameras to work within AHP on my vista machine, which is a big disappointment.

Part of the promise here was internet control.

Chris

ps. I'll keep trying and let you know if I figure it out.

Well, someone was kind enough to give me the answer - search using "washout".

In short, VA12 will not work on Vista, either 3.236 OR 3.228. Pity.

Shame. I use VA12A with Vista and it works fine. Sorry you are still having troubles.

Well now I have heard it both ways. Are you using iWitness as an AHP plug in under Vista? What version of AHP are you running?

Control Panel shows the VA-12 installed, but I get the strobed washout others complain of, and it seems to matter not at all if I run 3.228 or 3.236.

I am not adverse to continuing to try, but was led to believe that Vista, AHP, iWitness and VA-12 do not play together, at all. Is that incorrect?

Did you ever verify the video from the cameras was not messed up into the VA12?
Are you connecting the VA12A directly to a USB Port on you computer?

First I know the video from the cameras works into receivers, because the TV's work fine, including a portable at the place I plug that receiver into the VA-12, so the signal is clean. As the VA 12 is a USB device, so yes it goes from the video receiver directly into a USB port.... not sure how else it COULD go. Unless you are thinking about a powered hub.

I read in a few places that reinstalling iWitness appeared to have solved problems for other folks.... so heck, why not. Well, guess what? Everything NOW works... Vista VA-12   AHP 3.236... everything works FINE.

Thank you to those who posted their experience in reinstalling iWitness.

Try  it if you are/were having my probems.
