@lee911: When UAC is disabled, you can go into the Security Center and click on "Change the way Security Center alerts me" or similar to have it stop bugging you.

I would still leave UAC on (it's a good thing, trust me), and perhaps follow this guide to make running AHP a scheduled task:

I normally click on Windows Security Center settings in the system tray (red shield once you turn off UAC).
Once it opens, in the left column, there is an option to change how windows security center alerts you and I check do not show warnings.
This removes the popups and I've had no issues.
This should be fine as long as you are comfortable with your security settings.

I have ActivePhone installed on my iPhone and it works GREAT using WiFi  ... BUT I can't connect away from home using 3G.

The advertising hype suggests that it will work anywhere you have a 3G signal.

Using Comcast, Netgear router and port forwarded 8777, Firewall and virus protection OFF.

Am I doing something wrong?

Just make sure you're typing in the right IP Address away from home.
The link you get in the e-mail from ActiveHome is for use inside your home network, and won't be the same for external use.

The best thing to do is visit this website from home: http://www.whatsmyip.org/

Then, on your smart phone, you type in the corresponding number. For example, if http://www.whatsmyip.org/ tells you "Your IP Address is 222.222.222.555", the correct address on your phone would be http://222.222.222.555:8777/ahp

If you have a dynamic IP address (your computers IP frequently changes) try using a free service such as http://www.dyndns.com.
They have an auto update client that will update your IP and resolve it to a domain name. Eg: if your IP address was 255.255.255.0 and changed to 255.255.255.1, you wouldn't have to know this change, it would instead always be a set web address such as http://mywebaddress.com:8777/ahp.
I use this type of service myself and it works great..

If you use a service like DynDNS (or one of the many other dynamic DNS services), you should be able to bookmark that DDNS domain name, instead of looking up your external IP all the time.
Many routers have the ability to update some of the DDNS providers automatically when the IP address changes.
You can use use a service like DNS-O-Matic to update several at once, using software that runs on your PC to check your external IP address periodically.

  Hopefully this is a catchall for activephone and not a specific thread.
Here's my quick question. Since activephone emulates a hardware remote, and with that remote you are able to program modules like the socket rocket etc, with out being across the house in front of a pc, can you use active phone to program these modules? Or should I just by the remote?

ActivePhone connects through AHP to control basic function of the modules you have setup such as on/off, bright/dim.
There's no way to add or edit modules from ActivePhone that I know of.

I would think you could program a Socket Rocket. By using one of the On buttons on the emulated Palm Pad.
Apply the power to the Socket Rocket and within thirty seconds send the On command three times.

As J.B. pointed out. You could not edit modules in AHP.

Do you have to setup Port Forwarding too? I went to DynDNS.com and setup an account and got my DNS name, but it doesn't work. Can anyone provide detailed instructions to get this working? Would much rather have my ActivePhone working on 3G then WiFi!

If you only run one computer directly off your modem, then you may need to allow AHP through your firewall.

If using a router, many now allow you to add your DDNS info in their settings.

I run Windows Vista with an ISP modem and wireless router. ActivePhone and X10 Commander both work fine on WiFi. So my goal is to get at least ONE of them working on 3G. I went into my Router settings (Dlink) and it does allow me to enter my DynDNS account. I have set Windows Firewall to allow ActiveHome and ActivePhone. And I've attempted to setup Port Forwarding within the router settings. But this is maybe where I went wrong with the settings. I don't know. I'll keep messing around to see if I can get it. But if anyone can help me out with this Port Forwarding thing it would be appreciated. It's driving me crazy!!!
