I have AHP installed and something weird it going on.

One of my lamps "A1" is turning ON and I don't know why.

Checking the log, here is what it says:

From Activity monitor log:   "Macro   A1 Extended code 3e 31 -– preset receiver operation (office lamp)"

"A1" is the lamp in question but I don't understand what the Extended Code is and what it is doing!

Any explanation for this "newbie"

Hey Chuck - Welcome!

One of the cardinal rules of X10 is, "Never use the A1 address".  I wish I could remember why, and I'm sure others will respond. - I just take the word of the folks who've been doing this.

Chuck; What version of AHP are you using?
Do you have any plug ins?
Did your AHP kit come with the CM15A or CM19A Interface?

A1 is the default house code every modules is set to from the factory.
Many of the battery devices like motion sensors and key chain remotes. Default back to A1 when the batteries are changed.

I understand that A1 is the default setting.
But I thought that I needed to use it so my security remotes and DS7000 would function properly.
Not using A2 "yet" as that is the 2nd function of my MS14A EagleEye motion detector.

I'm still trying to learn the ins and outs of  AHP .. there seems to be a lot of quirks.

I'm going to throw a caveat on the seemingly "cardinal rule" of never using "A1".  There is very good reasons to use A1 in your system if you HAVE motion sensors, Slim Line switches, etc.

I have a bedroom light on A1. If I find the bedroom light inexplicably ON, I know I have a motion sensor somewhere in the system that needs new batteries.

I've had X10 since the middle 1980's and I've ALWAYS used Housecode A and still use it for 5 modules, 3 in my Living Room, 1 in my Bathroom and 1 in my Bedroom with ZERO problems.  The use of Housecode A began with my CP290 and DOS software.
