Where can I get this XC21B camera repaired?
« on: January 07, 2011, 01:06:43 PM »

I've got 3 of the Vanguard pan/tilt/zoom (XC21B) cameras. 2 of them have failed servos. I haven't been able to find parts or repair service for these. Anybody know where I can get parts or get these fixed?

Many users have torn these apart.
Perhaps if you explain what is wrong or the part your looking for someone can jump in with a more helpful post then mine! ;)

The servos or more specifically the gears inside the servos are breaking. The only source for these servos is from China and I don't need 2,000 of them. I am looking for a stateside source.

Okay seems to me I remember reading a post about replacement gears!
A user found them in a hobby shop.
If they posted the name of the shop I don't remember but a detailed search of the forum should find the post.
Or that user may chime in with the info!

The gears mentioned in these posts;

 are external to the servos. The ones I need are internal. They are compound straight gears (like you would find in an old clock) used to reduce the rpm (and increase the torque) of the little stepper motor to something more usable.

 I realize the normal repair is to replace the stepper motor (servo), but, as I posted earlier, I could only find them in China and I don't want to buy 2,000 to get the 3 I need.

Thanks for the posts, anyway.
