It might help some of the others if you gave a little more detail on your post.  I am guessing that you are talking about a security module, but that is just an assumption.  What are you activating the phone on?  What screen comes up saying no modules? Are you using Active Home Pro?  Are you using a CM15A, CM19A?

The people here are good, but they are not mind readers like my wife thinks I should be.

I have an android phone and  when I follow the emailed link it goes to an x10 style screen stating that no modules were found and to add them in Active home pro. it appears that the PC program is not communicating with the phone

I am assuming that you mean the link from MyHouse?

The link is in activehome pro plugins/active phone pro/invite a cell phone. does the data file have to be named My house?

No, as mentioned before if you need to give details when posting in here.  I made assumptions because you didn't mention using the ActivePhone Pro plugin.  From what I have read, this is a very new pluging sold by the Home Automation Store and NOT SUPPORTED BY X10 as of yet.  I have not used that, so I am not familiar with it, but I can't see that you would have to give the data file a specific name.  check out some of the posts from this thread.  They might be able to help.
