VT30A substituted for a VT50A Grr
myc6toy:
I just purchased the Wireless Audio/Video Sender and Receiver VK82A. I am very disappointed that I received a "new" VR50A receiver, but the "old" VT30A transmitter.
Is there much of a difference between the new VT50 Transmitter and the older VT30A ? Should I start screaming for the proper new unit. (I purchased two of these units , the other for a different use, but received the old Transmitter as well)
I purchased these units to try and extend my wireless camera range as described in a previous post. Camera on channel "A". receiver on channel "A" -- Rx wired to Transmitter via RCA cables, Transmitter set to channel "D" and my VR36A at computer set to channel "D"
When I try this setup, the picture gets a "little" better quality, but it is constantly flashing between a black screen and then proper image, ans about a 1-2 Hz rate
Thanks in advance for any advise.
Noam:
Are you bringing the signal into AHP, or some other software on the PC?
There was a bug in AHP 3.315 (supposedly fixed in 3.316 and later) that caused the video flicker.
If you are running 3.315, you should upgrade to 3.318 (the latest as of this post), from here:

VR50A and a VT30A?
If my FCC database searching is correct.
The VT30A is a 2.4GHz sender but the VR50A is a 5.8GHz receiver. Does the label on it indicate it is a 5.8GHz receiver?
To confuse things more the VR50 {no A suffix} is part of the Pro version using 921MHz.
Since the VR50A down converts the 5.8GHZ to a 2.4GHz receiver. I wounder if the 2.4GHz signal from the VT30 is sneaking though the front end sort of.
Also even if you have both the sender and receiver using the 2.4GHz band. Setting the camera on "A" and the second transmitter on "D" could have then interfering with each other. Any wireless networks in the mix to cause interference?
Brian H:
VK82A manual indicates it is a VT46A sender and a VR46A receiver.
X10 has been doing all kinds of substitutions as items are going out of stock.

Thanks for the quick replies !!
I am using the latest version of AHP (3.318)
What I ordered was : http://www.x10.com/whatsincluded/VK82A-SENDER-HMP-UP3.html, which is supposed to be (2.4 GHz Wireless Audio/Video Sender and Receiver (VK82A) qty 2 with the 5-1 remote.
Only other 2.4 Ghz is my wireless LAN but it was turned off for my testing, but when its on it does not seem to interfere as much as the microwave. (wireless Lan aprox 10' for VR36, and Microwave oven +30"away)
I will get the exact part numbers off the Tx and RX when I get home but what I had as chicken scratch is VT30A and VR50A
