CM15K or CM11A?
« on: March 29, 2012, 01:41:01 PM »

Since the CM15A seems to be nearly impossible to get our hands on without the exchange of gold!  Is the old serial version computer interface (CM11A) as good or better than the (CM15K)?  What should I look for to do mostly some lighting automation?

The CM11A is a serial only device, many laptops and PCs no longer support serial devices.  The CM15K is a combination of the CM19A and the TM751, it is no substitute for the CM15A. Look up the CM15K here, there's lots of info there.

So will I be happy with either one?  To use a remote with the CM11A, I will need a transeiver, correct?

Yes you would need a transceiver to get the X10 RF commands from a remote on to the power lines.
The CM11A does not have as much memory in it for downloaded timers and macros.

True, however it should also be noted the CM19A + tm751 (CM15K) has no memory what  so ever

So, the CM15K requires a computer on all the time to be able to run macros?
