Activity Monitor - Events repeated
« on: April 27, 2012, 11:56:39 AM »

I have been using AHP for about a month now and finally have some of the issues worked out.  I am using a CM19A USB Interface and the latest version of AHP.

I have noticed that on the AHP Activity Monitor, the items are often repeated multiple times.

For example, if I turn on a camera from AHP the item shows up line this:
Transmit     A13 (Electric Meter)
Transmit RF A13 On

Since I then use a PalmPad to turn it off (as I don't know how to turn it off inside AHP), the following shows up:
Receive RF  A13 Off
Receive      A13 (Electric Meter)
Receive      A Off (Electric Meter)
Receive      A13 (Electric Meter)
Receive      A Off (Electric Meter)

Why are those entries / commands duplicated?

If I use T.A.C. and X10Relayer (which I have found to be better than the ActivePhone app - which just locked up my CM19A), to turn on a light I get the following:
Transmit RF   A10 On
Receive RF    A10 On
Receive        A10 (Computer Desk)
Receive        A On (Computer Desk)
Receive RF    A10 On
Receive        A10 (Computer Desk)
Receive        A On (Computer Desk)
Receive RF    A10 On
Receive        A10 (Computer Desk)
Receive        A On (Computer Desk)
Receive RF    A10 On
Receive        A10 (Computer Desk)
Receive        A On (Computer Desk)
Receive RF    A10 On
Receive        A10 (Computer Desk)
Receive        A On (Computer Desk)
Receive RF    A10 On
Receive        A10 (Computer Desk)
Receive        A On (Computer Desk)
Receive RF    A10 On
Receive        A10 (Computer Desk)
Receive        A On (Computer Desk)
Receive RF    A10 On
Receive        A10 (Computer Desk)
Receive        A On (Computer Desk)
Receive RF    A10 On
Receive        A10 (Computer Desk)
Receive        A On (Computer Desk)
(that's a total of 9 times for this set of 3)
Transmit RF   A Bright

I then turned the light off using a PalmPad remote:
Receive RF    A10 Off
Receive        A10 (Computer Desk)

Any ideas?  I suspect my AHP setup is at fault somehow - and I think this may have some effect on some of things that are not working quite right...

The palm pad sends the commands multiple times for better reliability. That is probably what you are seeing.

As Brian said, the PalmPad tends to send the signal more than once, for reliability. If you hold the button down, it will send it even more times.

I can understand the explanation of the PalmPad entries -that makes sense...

But what about the T.A.C. one - a set of commands that gets repeated 9 times seems a bit much.  I also noticed this morning that events triggered by Timers / Macros are repeated 3 times...

I posted some info over at the tuicemen forum but I need to know how many computers you are running in your HA setup as well as all of the software.  I will continue to look into this for you over at the tuicemen forum

The issue is most likely X10Relayer and the repeat x10 command setting.

Ok I've finaly nail this down and it looks like a SDK bug.
A cm19 will send out multiple command sent from the SDK created program a CM15 won't.
At least in my tests.  B:(

I see a similar thing with my own setup, using a CM15A.
After rebooting the PC (or restarting the X10Nets service), I tend to get duplicate commands being sent by AHP and/or the SDK.
For whatever reason, opening AHP stops this behavior (it does not need to stay open, but it doesn't need to be closed either - just opening it is the "fix").
I don't know if this is the same thing that you are seeing with the CM19A or not, but it might be worth a try.
I have made it a habit to open and then close AHP after I reboot that machine.
The bug I experience has been in the list for a while. I wonder if this is actually the same thing.
Can you (or someone else) try to see if the same thing happens with a CM11A?
