I am having the exact same problem. Also Win7 Ultimate x64, 24GB Ram, the works. I get the vertical line, and everything else in AH freezes. Also, every time I do that, like hit the product registration window, i get another icon in the task bar. I too could really use help!
So back on the subject of my problem :p
Anyone have any ideas at all ? would really like to use this software to the full extent..
