CameraBowl
« on: May 15, 2013, 05:36:23 PM »

I have the PTZ outdoor pro and my problem is MOTHER... not my mother.. but mother nature....especially her trees.

so i also have the xx34A INDOOR CAMERA

so i have this idea of buying a goldfish bowl.. flipping it over the camera .. an sit it outside in my window guard for the AC...

it would be inside the bowl and protected from the weather... the camera is too big to fit thru the guard so no one can steal it...

THOUGHTS? ANYONE.

i know i could buy the outdoor model. but it doesn't pan/tilt.

I am aware of the IR being reflected off glass. but what about plastic? I need this camera more for day than night since i have the xx40a also

Plastic should be cheap enough to just try, (less than 10 bucks?) BUT unless the plastic bowl is UV protected, it will cloud and fog in one season. I would try it anyway.

Woah.... $64.00 is a little extreme for just the enclosure.

Does it have problems with the IR being reflected off the dome?

Yes it does, the best camera to use in it is one with ir cut or with no ir cut cover the ir lights with black tape these are the best pt cams I have three foscams 8910 in those enclosers and they are the best working cheap ip cams I have, no problems whatsoever also added external ir lights for night
Also check eBay for some better pricing
Also think about price. A good indoor pt camera is about 100 the encloser is about 70 that's only 170 for a outdoors unit

Yep... with the outdoor XX40A going for about $149.00, i thought about it.
This xx34a i need more for daytime use but it is a indoor camera, hence the fishbowl idea.
