New Insteon Modules Dropping X10 Support.

(1/1)

Brian H:
Anyone who may have started using Insteon Module with an X10 address. When X10WTI was going out of business and the new company didn't have all the products available yet.

I have seen a few threads in the Smarthome and Insteon forums. That all new modules are going to drop X10 support. So in theory you may have an older Insteon Module and like it. The next one you may decide to get. May now not accept X10 addresses.

HA Dave:
Thanks for sharing. The news sucks... but that isn't your fault... and we're better off with the info. Thx again.

FWIW
It appears Insteon is now it's own company.
I was at Menards (aka; Home Depot - Lowes clone) and they have a home automation disply of (most all) Insteon  products: lamp and appliance modules, fan modules, garge door modules, light bulbs, hubs, cameras, micro modules, thermostats, security modules, etc. etc. Neither the impressive display (video infomercial screen and automated lighting examples) nor the product boxes give a hint of Smarthome, although the boxes had Irvine CA as the home address for Insteon Inc. All modules were labeled as "Dual Band" but (sadly) none mentioned having any X10 capabilities. So I guess Insteon is now a big box store item, and X10 is past tense.

Brian H:
Menards actually has the new Insteon 2245-222 {HUB 2014} HUB II before it will be available on the Smarthome sales site.
Though they put it into the Holiday Catalog and I believe the $39.99 was a misprint and maybe why it is not on the site. I understand for an undetermined time. They eventually will be honoring the price.
