Repair of Vangard camera???

(1/2) > >>

captainernie:
HI all,
I just found a Vangard VK-77A I forgot I had. It doesn't work and there is a brown wire coming out it that appears to have been attached to something in the past.
Is anyone aware of a place that repairs these cameras? I'd hate to just junk it.
Thanks
Ernie

Brian H:
Would the Brown wire be sticking out of the rear and if you look closely. Has a center wire and some braided shielding around it.
It could be the small diameter antenna wire connected to the antenna on the back of the camera.

I have not seen any repair information for cameras but others may have some sources for you.

Thanks for replying. The wire sort of sticks out through the camera "hinge" or pivot. Very thin, stripped end, no trace of solder.

Brian H:
After looking at the FCC Database photos of the XC21 camera in the VK77 kit.

The brown wire exiting the camera at the hinge is the wire connected to the transmitter antenna.

If it is exiting the main body the wire has pulled off or was never soldered to the internal antenna in the antenna housing.  If the wire doesn't have solder on it. It may have never been connected inside the antenna or the joint was so poor it didn't solder correctly.

If it is exiting the antenna then it has pulled off the transmitter board inside the main camera body.

AHA! At least I have a starting point now. THanks!!!!
