No hub WiFi LED lightbulb

<< < (3/3)

HA Dave:
I was sent to Walmart yesterday (step-daughter saw a ad for granddaughter sized Christmas dresses). And right there at isle E24 (yes, the Web Site is that specific as to what/where, at each store).... I saw the Smart Lightbulb display. I still remember how tickled I was when plain old LED bulbs dropped to only 5 bucks.

With Amazon offering Alexa devices for as little as 20 bucks (during the holidays) this could be a perfect time to own a smart(er) home for under $50.

First thought was "neat, I should go buy a few".  Then I started thinking about it and realized that all of the places I would have put these are already LED, halogen, or have no need to be automated.  I may pick up a couple to play with but I can't think where I would put them.  On the up side, they do claim they are dimmable so they should work with X10 soft start if someone wanted to combine X10 and WiFi for some reason.   :o

"no need to be automated"..... I am sorry I don't understand what that means.  ;D

Although I fully recognize the usefulness and/or need for automated products by some people... and I fully applaud and support that. But I am an automation enthusiast by choice. With only minor lag times, I've been growing my setup since 2005. The things I have not yet automated..... is merely because of cost limitations, or limitations of the technology itself.
