PSC04 / PSC05 availability
« on: August 11, 2016, 06:37:19 PM »

We have had several people contact us recently regarding an alternative for the PSC04 / PL513 transmit-only version of the PSC05.  I see they are now listed as "New" on the X10 site, but are showing the availability as "Out of stock".

Does anyone know if X10 is bringing back this product as well as the 2-way version PSC05 / TW523?

I have not seen the PSC05 Two Way Interface listed on the X10 or any other independent vendors site in a long time.
I have seen the PSC04 on independent vendors sites along with the X10 site. One of the independents is showing stock available.

Maybe they are in the process of designing a updated version. Like they have done with a few of the other Pro modules.

That is what I thought when the site said "New".  I figured it was in process, but not yet released.

I was going to rework a PCB to emulate the PSC04, but it is not worth the effort if the PSC04 will be available again.

I asked the owner about this.
Seems the website listed as new but out of stock is an error.
Which was the error out of stock or new wasn't specified but the site wording is to change with the error fix.
I'm told Authinx has discussed bringing back the PSC05 / TW523 the issue is they need to commit to 3000 orders  which is a hefty  commitment.

I took a quick look.
It now says the PSC04 is "Out Of Stock" with no new in the description.

Jeff's XTB523 is a great replacement for the TW523/PSC05. So a commitment to 3000 units would be a gamble.

I believe that Jeff mentioned maybe modifying his XTB523 so it could also act like the PSC04.

Wow, that is a serious commitment!  I had looked into manufacturing the XTB products, and the best quote I received required ordering 1000 units.  That was way beyond my resources, which is why they are currently being hand assembled.

I can do a slight mod on the XTB-523 PCB so it can work as either the PSC05/TW523 or PSC04/PL513 just by adding a jumper to a header.  Or the existing XTB-523 PCB can be custom-built as a PSC04/PL513 for about $10 less because the input stage is eliminated.
