What went wrong?
« on: June 20, 2017, 05:00:41 PM »

I have had numerous X-10 components for quite some time.  Everything was working just fine until a recent, brief power outage occurred.    After that things went haywire.

The CM15A  began sending random signals to various modules at times that weren’t stored in the interface.  I am totally aware of the SECURITY setting and took this into consideration.

Also, the REMOTE CONTROLS began working intermittently.   B:(

Components being used:

•   Active Home Pro  V 3.318
•   CM15A  Interface
•   XPCR System Coupler Repeater.
•   HR12A Remotes

Following are steps I have taken so far trying to correct the problems:

•   Opened the software and CLEARED the CM15A memory, then RE Downloaded it.
•   Unplugged the CM15A, removed the batteries and left it set foe an hour or so hoping it would loosed it’s memory.
•   Re-installed the CM15A and saved the info in AHP to it, however it didn’t make a difference.
•   Checked the XPCR and observed the red light DOES blink when a signal is sent from a REMOTE.

POSSIBLE CLUE:
When viewing the ACTIVITY MONITOR I notice it shows that MACROS were run.  This is odd because I DO NOT have any Macros.

I considered Reinstalling AHP, however, didn’t know if that would delete all my settings, consequently felt I should get an answer from someone that knows before proceeding.

Is there any way to test the CM15A & XPCR to verify they are good?

Look forward to hearing any ideas/suggestions you may have.

If a phone call is possible I can be reached @ (570) 443-9694 EST.  If you provide me your phone number I will call you.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

reboot your PC and load AHP.
click on clear interface
click purge macros and timers
reboot without updating interface
once rebooted open AHP and update interface.

If you wish to attempt to reinstall AHP copy the ahx files from the active home pro folder
If this was your AHP (registered to you) copy the x10prod.sys file and note your drive ID. as you may need ahp-lifejacket after the reinstall.

Tuicemen,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I will try your first suggestion before going any further.

NOTE:  I purchased the software, however, was never able to register it.  Was told to close the window when asked to register.

Thanx again.

The software should have been free!
Where did you purchase?

Do you have any X10 motion sensors, or the X10 floodlights with the motion sensors built in?
Those could have reset their codes, and are malfunctioning.
I've also seen issues where CFL bulbs start to fail, and start flooding the home with RF noise. That noise can both block signals, and be perceived as false commands.

    Tuicemen,

RE: Software purchase.  The only reason I mentioned this was because in your reply you say "If this is the AHP that was registered to me" is why I mentioned I could not register it.

Thanks to computers I do have some facts about the software purchase.

On 11/7/2012 I purchased, from X-10, the CM15A which included the AHP Software (Free).

Then on 12/8/2012 also purchased, again from X-10, the Smart Macro Software Modules for AHP which is the software I paid for.  I was not able to register it or the AHP.  (SORRY FOR THE MEMORY FLUB)

I completed the steps in your first suggestion, set the modules to turn on 1 minute apart and ran 2-3 tests, which worked.  (No security used)

I then restored all settings (using security) and will see how it runs tonight.

Noam,

Thanx 4 ur suggestions.  I do not have any motion sensors or CFL's, but will remember your tips for the future.

Will post in a few days to report on results.

Thanx you both for your help.[/list]
