A Costco find.
« on: March 26, 2019, 03:19:56 PM »

I just got back from a trip to my local Costco outlet and thought I'd share a find though I didn't purchase any.
It seems Costco is now selling smart home dimmers, outlets and small plug in modules in two packs and controllable by Alexa and google.
The modules are what realy caught my eye. These things were under $30 CND for a two pack which is reasonable but what was real impressive was their size. They're maybe 1/3 the size of a WeMo mini, I now wish I picked up a pack just so I could tear one a part. I know the Wi-fi chips keep getting smaller but this still needs a power converter.

I didn't recognize the brand name or even pay that much attention to it :-[
Anyone else see these? ???

The ones I seen were not the CE Smart home Wi-fi modules but at least half that size.

A coworker brought a package of outlets in last month or so.  They look cool but I couldn't tell if they were only cloud based or if they could be controlled locally.  The packaging looked like both were possible but he hadn't tried them yet.  I don't usually like the plug-in type modules due their massive size, but these are so small they wouldn't be noticed unless you were looking.

ya that sounds like the ones they aren't any bigger then a 3 prong to 2 prong adaptor.
I suspect they are just cloud based.
My wife was in a hurry to get out of there so I couldn't read too much on the package.
I may take a trip tomorrow even if just to read the package. rofl
