How to use HomeLink to control lights
« on: May 15, 2019, 10:50:29 PM »

Sorry for the cross-posting...

How can I turn on lights/lamps from the homeLink in my car:
I have:
•   Alexa,
•   smart plugs for Alexa (and I assume WIFI and maybe Bluetooth, including a WeMo outlet)
•   X-10 outlets and controller,
•   WIFI,
•   and Wyze cam with its newly released Wyze Sense.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the X10 Forums.

I saw you post in the Smarthome Forums. Glad you found us.

You may want to look at this page on the HomeLink web site. https://www.homelink.com/compatible/products

I only see X10 compatibility. I hope other can add to this information.

How can I turn on lights/lamps from the homeLink in my car:
HomeLink can memorize and send X10 commands. So if you have a typical three button HomeLink in your car you could use two buttons to send an ON or Off command to your X10 outlets. (I am assuming one button is dedicated to the door opener). You might need a TM751 X10 transceiver in the garage.  Our HomeLink only transmits about 50 feet so I need a transceiver in our garage.

HomeLink does not speak WiFi or Bluetooth. That eliminates Alexa without getting in to some way to bridge.

The PiX10Hub with HomeGenie makes a nice bridge. I can control  hue lights, zwave & wemo switches and IP cameras with a x10 RF signal. My wife has homelink in her car but tefuses to let me play with it.  :( we don't have a garage is always her reply. Guess I just have to find somethings that she'd link on when she gets home and tell her the only way to do it is with the homelink  rofl
