How to check clock time on CM15A and X10 WiFi
« on: February 20, 2021, 11:07:01 AM »

Hello,

I have a "Shut everything off" macro that is scheduled to run at night.

To my surprise, the macro is triggered randomly between 8:00 and 9:00am.

The macro is scheduled to run at night on CM15A, but as a backup, it is also scheduled to be triggered by X10 WiFi.

I suspect the clock time is messed up on CM15A or X10 WiFi.

Is there a way to see what clock times are on CM15A and X10 WiFi?

(BTW, I cleaned ActiveHome trash can today. Maybe some deleted items had been causing the issue.
There is also a possibility of power line noise changing codes and triggering the macro)

So far to check clock times, I added a few phantom devices to an unused house code and I scheduled ON/OFF at certain times. I can monitor those events. But it is a cumbersome method. I wonder if there is anything as easy as seeing the actual clock time?

Thank you,
Stan

:) Answering my own question  -:)

I see for CM15A, I can see clock time on the Hardware Configuration window.

Does anybody know how to see hardware clock time on X10 WiFi?

If I'm not mistaken, the WM100 syncs its time to the phone when connected to the app, so just access it with the app and the time should be corrected.  I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong about this.

[/quote] Correct.
Both the CM15 and WM100 will resync their times once accessed via their software connection.
CM15 is synced to the computers time, the Wm100 synced to the Phones time.
The WM100 will notify you the time is off when you connect.

Thank you Tuicemen and Brobin!

[ the Wm100 synced to the Phones time.]

How about a power failure? CM15A has backup batteries, but what about WM100?

The WM100 will require a resync after a power failure as it has no RTC  (a design flaw).

...and if you plug it into a UPS to keep the time, the UPS will severely degrade the X10 signals.  :'

Woooooow!!! A huge design flaw!!!   B:(

I am actually power-cycling my WM100 because there are issues with connecting to it after a few days.

I guess I will have to stop power cycling and find another fix for unreliable connections...  >*<

Go into your router and set a IP reservation for the WM100 that should solve the connecting issue.

Go into your router and set a IP reservation for the WM100 that should solve the connecting issue.

1. I set a static IP address for my WM100. Double-checked now and IP is as expected. So this wasn't the root cause of my problems.
2. My connection success rate is maybe 95%, not bad, but those 5% of failures seem to be at the worst expected times.

3. I am going to power cycle once a week at Sunday/Monday midnight. It will reset the clock to beginning of week 00:00 which is acceptable.

When you've had enough of fighting the WM100's limitations have a look at the Smartenit P2 which does everything that the WM100 is supposed to do but without the problems plus it gives you Alexa/Google Home control as well.  I've been using one for almost 2 years without problems and a number of folks here have been getting onboard too.  The P2 with the PLM (needed for X10) is $59.99.

If I had known about Smartenit P2 before buying WM100...  I will buy Smartenit P2, but I have to replenish my home automation budget.

A static IP and reserved IP aren't the same.
A static IP means the WM100 will only connect to your router with that ip.  If it goes off line your router could hand that IP to another device thus your WM100 wouldn't reconnect as the IP would be in use.
A reserved IP means the router will only hand that IP to the WM100 it will never hand that IP to another device even if your wm100 is off line for a month or more.

This doesn't mean your WM100 may not still need a power cycling but I've never had to do that for any of mine. I have noticed a time sync being required every so often when I connect to them with the phone but the time is no usually off by more then a few mins

Ok, so I have a reserved IP.

Since I am doing power cycling, my connection rate is almost 100%. Before, it was failing once a while.

I had that issue with my Broadlink RM Pro using a static IP, when I checked with a port scanner I discovered my Phone was using its IP.
I now have all my wifi devices setup in my router with a IP reservation.
