Power cycling, internal clock, improving connection reliability
« on: February 20, 2021, 02:31:48 PM »

Thanks to Tuicemen and brobin for sharing their knowledge and experience!

Sharing my experience:

For me, power cycling (power off and on) makes connecting to WM100 very reliable.
My WM100 is connected to power line through Kasa Smart Plug. I don't see any significant signal power loss. Kasa Power Plug timer is used for power cycling WM100.

I found WM100's clock resets to Saturday 1:00am when power cycling. (I don't know what date that Saturday is).

Conclusion: I will set my power cycle to 1am (12:58am off, 1:00am on). It should give me a good working "fresh" WM100 with correct clock!

(BTW, I already have many X10 modules so it is my major system, but I also bought a few Kasa Smart Plugs and they work very well, great for power-cycling many devices: WM100, WiFi routers etc.)

Thinking about it... power cycling at 1:00 am using a more reliable timer (for example, a smart plug or battery back-up time) will also correct WM100 clock if there was a power failure, and no app usage.
The solution is far from great, but better than nothing.
