I've used x-10 for years going back to v.1 I
think. I've always been very happy with it
until we moved into a double-wide mobile
home. From that point on the entire system
was very erratic and would not work. I had a
capacitor installed in the breaker box, but
that didn't do it. Tech suppports
suggestions were all followed, so I now use
a simple controller that gives me control of
3 lamps, and I use a mini-controller which I
can use to manually use a few lights. Does
the latest version answer these issues, or
should I go back to square one and buy a
whole new controller system with new
software? I have a whole box full of various
x-10 components that I can no longer use.

If X10 control doesn't work consistently
throughout your home now, using ActiveHome
Pro won't improve the situation,
unfortunately. It sounds like you'll need to
figure out what's keeping the X10 signals
from working reliably. You might want to
start by looking for appliances or electrical
devices that are putting out noise, or
blocking X10 commands.

You can start to do that by trying your small
set-up in different places, so you can figure
out where it works and where it doesn't. When
find places that don't work, see if
unplugging appliances on those circuits
improves the situation.

I'm sure our other forum members will have
more ideas for how to figure out why X10
doesn't work in your whole house.

Ernie:
You didn't say that your new home came
with new appliences, Your new Fridge may be
sending noise out over the power lines.  Try
this site for some tips on getting noise
problems..

there is a decussion on noise.  I hope this
helps you get up and running.  You say that
you had a amplifer installed if you have
electrical noise you may have made the
problem worse..  Also the noise may be
outside of you mobile home, by that I mean A
neibour on the same Power Transformer may be
the cause..  I hope the series of articles
are some help..
