Honeywell Lynx X10 Security System
« on: May 28, 2005, 02:39:52 PM »

Has anyone had any experience with the
Honeywell Lynx security system? I am getting
it installed and I wanted to know if I can
set up the house / unit codes on the security
console to whatever codes I want. Also, can I
buy extra window sensors from X10.com and add
to the Honeywell system?
Thank you all for your responses.

If I remember correctly (it's been a while),
you can only change the HOUSE CODE on the
Lynx panel.

Also, I think it will only let you control
the first 8 devices, 1 through 8.

Devices 1 - 6 can be turned on/off through
the keypad, or via dial-in remote.

Devices 7 - 8 can also be turned off the
same way, but require the disarm code to
be entered.  (This was set up so that the
alarm panel could flash unit 7 or 8 in
response to an alarm, and not be disabled
without the alarm code.)

I've never tried to integrate X-10 SENSORS
with the panel; I didn't know that the panel
even responded to INCOMING x-10 signals.

This is of course assuming that the HONEYWELL
version of the Lynx is the same as the ADEMCO
version of the Lynx panel. . . .

Thanks Tigger;
The Honeywell Lynx is actually Ademco - the
two companies merged, apparently. This is a
wireless system that uses wireless door
sensors, that is why I asked about the X10
window sensors.
Regarding house code change - so basically
you setup the alarm system on a house code
(say M), and then it automatically assigns
itself unit code 1, then 2-8 are available
for other modules (lights, etc)?
Thanks again.

It was my understanding that the
Lynx will only CONTROL other X-10 devices,
so you wouldn't be able to integrate any
X-10 wireless security sensors into your
alarm system.

The Lynx will TURN ON/TURN OFF other
X-10 devices, with unit numbers 1-8,
either via timer, or in response to
alarm situations.

But again, this is from memory.
Check the programming guide for confirmation.
