I have a barn about 200 feet away from the
main house. I have been using the Appliance
module am486 to provide remote control
operation of fans we have in each stall. They
have been working flawlessly. I now added a
ws13a-l fluorescent wall switch in order to
control the 4 fluorescent light fixtures. The
switch works fine at the switch, but not from
ahp. I have tried unplugging the appliance
modules and turning off the fans. There is no
other light or appliance out there. I have
also tried different outlets for the cm15a. I
still need to try moving the ws13a-l to
another location to see if it will work at
all. Or (bulb in head goes on!) i'll just
move the cm15a outside to the barn and see if
it works at all from there. Just wondering if
anyone had any other suggestions.....Thanks

Side note: The unit works with the cm15a in
the barn. Apparently i've got something that
doesn't like the ws13a but gets along fine
with am486's over that distance. I failed to
mention  earlier that this is a dedicated
circuit.

Side note 2: The barn is supplied from a gfci
breaker which feeds into a disconnect at the
barn. Is the ws13a-l able to work when it is
behind a gfci breaker?

O.K. It's confirmed. The ws13a will not work
at distances of 200 feet. The gfci had
nothing to do with it in this case.

Sorry.........It does work after all. Been
meaning to update this post. Turns out that I
had two simultaneous issues. One was that the
cm15a needed to be plugges in to a receptacle
that was on the same phase as the barn
lights. Of course, usually, this can be
remedied by using a phase coupler. However,
this is not an economical solution for me as
I have 400 amp service and two seperate panel
boxes. So, i just moved the cm15a as that
did not pose any other problems for me.
The second issue was a large screen Samsung
tv. It was sucking up the x10 signals so, i
fixed that with a noise filter.
The reason that I said it was confirmed was
due to some apparently bad info from another
x10 user.

Most of the 400-amp services I've seen
usually involve 1 service drop from the
pole, and one electric meter.

If that's the case, you can use an
inexpensive phase coupler ($25) on
ONE of the panels, and it should carry
over to the other panel just fine.
