Unwanted Multi trigger of motion sensor
« on: September 17, 2005, 09:09:26 AM »

I am installing my first set of X-10
equipment and attempting to trigger my
first Macro from a motion sensor (eagle eye
MS14a)    What I want to happen is to have
the  bathroom light turn on at a dimmed
setting  after dark if the rest of the
house lights  are out.  Everything works,
except it  appears that the motion sensor
is sending  multiple triggers to the wall
module.  The  light will come on at 50%,
and then if you  are still in hallway the
the sensor  triggers again.  What am I
doing wrong?  Is  there anyway to set the
sensor to trigger  once and then delay for
a period?

Groucho,

If you have the smart macro plug in you
could have the motion sensor set a flag
which could be used to prevent the light
from being triggered again.

Groucho,
Jim has it exactly right and I am doing the
same thing.
I have my master or guest bath lights come on
when I walk in, have the Motion Detector set
for 8 min delay before sending an OFF.
I use macros to watch for MD trigger

ON received from Motion Det.

If Time is between 5AM and 11PM
Turn light ON

If time is between 11pm and 5am AND Flag is OFF
Set light to 50%
Set Flag ON

OFF received from Motion Det.
Send OFF to light
Clear Flag
Clear Flag
(I send twice to make SURE flag is cleared)

This setup ignores multiple commands after
11pm so that the lights won't continually go
from bright to dim as the person moves
around in the bathroom.  The 8 min OFF delay
works well for me as it is only sent after 8
minutes of no motion detected.

hope this helps
