2 receivers with one cam?
« on: December 29, 2005, 03:59:34 PM »

Hi all!
I'm VERY new to X10 stuff, in fact my
"starter kit" should be getting here tomorrow.

I definitely want to get a camera
(eventually) and will most likely get the
iWitness software so I can record the video
to the computer.
Here's my question:
Can I have on receiver on my computer and one
on the TV so that when the camera is
activated (via motion sensor) it will
broadcast to both?
That way I can record the video and also see
who's there on my TV.

I'm assuming this should work 'cause, from
what I understand, the camera just broadcasts
out and not just to a particular device...
but wanted to ask here first.

Thanks to all!

Chatted with X10 online help and you CAN have
multiple receivers for one camera.

As long as the transmitted signal can reach
both receivers. It should work. Both the
camera and receivers antennas are
directional. If one receiver is in the
oposite direction from the camera as the
other receiver. It may not receive the
signal.

It should work with no problem. I have 16
cameras and a receiver on each TV in the
house. I leave the video receivers on all
the time and turn cameras on and move from
one cam to another with the palm pad remote
control. When I'm on the computer, I control
cams with the software.
Hope this answers your questions.

I also have multiple receivers and have found
the VR31A is superior to the less costly VR36A.
The picture quality and added sound option
are worth the extra $10.00 !
