CM15A cannot control modules from the GUI
« on: January 24, 2006, 09:24:57 PM »

I upgraded computers.  Did not have the
activation code for the CM15A, but the tech
support folks at X10 were very nice
forwarded me a new activation code for the
software.  This particular CM15A box has
run fine for over a year (with battery
changes) on my old computer.  Now with the
new computer and the new download of the
software it does not work. I cannot control
the modules directly from the GUI.  It
appears I am communicating with the CM15A
through the USB connection since some
functions appear to work.  I can download
new timers and macros, set the time, etc.
I have pulled the unit out of the plug,
pulled the batteries, done everything
to "reset" the unit, but still no working.
What else can I do to verify this
previously functioning CM15A is correctly
talking to my computer and X-10 modules?

I echo John's concern.  With my recent
upgrade to 3.199, the control of devices has
been erratic.  I have cleared the memory on
the CM15A module, but the problems persist.
Prior to 3.199,  I had no issues.  Can you
confirm if this release is the cause?

With trying a few more changes, it seems the
macros I use with the new release, are
causing the instability.  I have run the
last couple of days fine with only timed
events and no macros.

Try rebuilding your file from scratch.
After upgrading to 3.199 I had to rebuild
my entire file. Since then my macros and
timers have been operating properly.  What
I did was create a new test file with a
couple of modules and set up timers and
macros the same way the old file had them.
I then tested the macros. Once I proved
that the old file was at fault I then
recreated the entire file.

I'm running ahp-pro with smart macro's and
the only problem i have is with the flags.
all my macro's run fine. not sure why after
reading all these problems but I'm not going
to kick a dead horse.
