In a nutshell...
« on: December 12, 2005, 11:19:45 PM »

MyHouse online sounds like a cool plugin.
If it works as well as it's advertised, it
could be useful.

My questions are...
How well does it work?
Can you access it from any computer?
Can you access it from an email? eg Can I
email a command from my phone?
What kind of security does it have? ie Do I
have to enable any form of computer sharing
that could compromise my computer for
unwanted access?
Pros? Cons?

These are good questions!

I think MyHouse Online works pretty well, but
other forum users can answer that more in depth.

You can run the MyHouse Remote from any
Windows computer in Internet Explorer, as you
can install ActiveX controls.

There aren't any e-mail command features in
MyHouse Online, but that's an interesting
concept. I believe there is an add-on
developed by one of our customers that lets
you send commands with IM.

You don't have to enable any form of computer
sharing to use MyHouse Online.

Thanks for the reply.

X10Pro said that they believed there was an
add-on developed by one of the X10 users
that lets you send commands with IM. Anyone
know of it?

One of my reasons I'm interested in MyHouse
Online is that I'm interested in moving X10
Pro from my laptop to my desktop while
still having laptop control of X10. This
should allow me more portability for the
laptop while still having X10 Pro connected
to a computer.
My question is...
What is the best way to transfer X10 Pro
from my laptop with all the modules, timers
and macros intact to the desktop? Will it
be necessary to re-register the program for
the desktop? My computers are networked as
well as I can bsckup to CD or flash drive.
Thanks.

To switch AHP from one computer to another
you need to install and register AHP on the
new PC, and then copy your .AHX file(s) to
the new computer. That should do it.
