Question about using Flags (Burdy?)
« on: November 25, 2004, 09:35:27 PM »

In another post Burdy gives a nice example
of using flags to turn on or off a Chime
macro. My question is this… how do you
properly set/clear a flag using a remote?

I currently have the following
configuration that doesn’t appear to be
working:
My Handheld remote is set to J1, nothing
else resides on this house/unit code.
I created two Macros, one for Flag Set and
one for Flag Clear.  This is what they look
like:

Macro #1 Name: Chime On
Trigger: J1 ON
Modify Flags Icon: Operation = Set Selected
Flags. Checkmark in Box# 1.

Macro #2 Name: Chime Off
Trigger: J1 OFF
Modify Flags Icon: Operation = Clear
Selected Flags: Checkmark in Box# 1.

The Activity Monitor indicates the
following:
J1 ON (Chime On)
J1 OFF (Chime On)

So it appears from the AM that it’s only
setting the Flag and not clearing it on
OFF. Is this the correct way to turn on/off
a Flag? I’m I overlooking something?

What you have described looks fine to me. In
fact the macros I use are almost the same
(except I included an actual 'ding'+ delay 1
sec + 'ding' of the chime for audible
feedback when I execute the 'chime enable'
macro, and a single chime 'ding' for
disable, just so I the macro got executed).

I know some of the activity monitor entries
are buggy; have you looked at the actual
flags after the macro executes?  You can
verify the state of the flags directly by
looking at the Reports.. Interface Status
from the AHP File menu-- but note that the
reports page doesn't seem to map the actual
bit to the reported bit number correctly..
bit 1 gets reported as bit 14 as I recall,
and the others also get reported in the
wrong bit positions also.  I reported this
bug last week.

Thanks for the confirmation Burdy, it
appears to be triggering the flag correctly
now.

I've also noticed that the activity monitor
always seems to display the name of
the "ON" Macro even when the "OFF" macro is
triggered.
