Activity Monitor Issue
« on: March 26, 2005, 02:00:06 AM »

After about 24 hours, the Activity Monitor
stopped recording the macro activity. The
macros did not stop running. From the
Activity Monitor:

03/24/2005
15 12:37:30am Receive A14 On (Motion)
16 12:37:31am Receive A14 (Lamp-Flash On)
17 12:37:31am Receive A On (Lamp-Flash On)
18 12:37:31am Macro RF A4 On
19 12:37:32am Receive A4 (Lamp)
20 12:37:32am Receive A On (Lamp)
21 12:37:34am Macro RF A4 Off
22 12:37:35am Receive A4 (Lamp)
23 12:37:35am Receive A Off (Lamp)

03/25/2005 11:47:45 pm
53 11:47:45pm Receive A14 On (Motion)
54 11:47:46pm Receive A14 (Lamp-Flash On)
55 11:47:46pm Receive A On (Lamp-Flash On)
56 11:47:47pm Receive A4 (Lamp)
57 11:47:47pm Receive A On (Lamp)
58 11:47:50pm Receive A4 (Lamp)
59 11:47:50pm Receive A Off (Lamp)

Notes:
- The macro flashes a lamp on for three
seconds when motion is detected.
- The macro controls the lamp using an RF
command).
- Restarting AHP did not fix the problem.
Clearing the CM15A memory, and downloading
the timers and macros did correct the
problem, for now.

--------------------------
My Configuration:
- Windows 2000 with SP4
- AHP version 3.183 with Smart Macros.
- CM15A connected to computer.
- AHP running at all times.
- CM15A is the diagnostic version.

I encountered strange problems reguarding
macros myself.  Obviosly the clear memory
routine does not work.  I spent hours
trying to find out why my macros were
erratic.  finnaly I disconnected the CM15A
from the AC and the USB and removed the
batteries, put everything back, and
everything worked fine.

I thought these systems use EEPROM for data
file storage and removing the battery only
resets the clock, and what RAM they have for
changing data values? Is the rodent wrong?

Since the update to 3.183, I found that my
Activity monitor is no longer logging timers
run from the CM15A. It only seems to be
logging "manual" commands (those I click in
the interface, or use a handheld remote,
etc).

Noam I was having the same problem with my
98 pc not showing timers in the AM but I
woke up this morning and everything is
displaying in the AM now. Maybe X10 added a
few gremlins in the update that auto fix
things.:) I wish they could make the SDK
work with 98 & the preferences stay set.:)

It has been ELEVEN MONTHS since X10 said they would look into this. They have not looked into this, nor do they seem to have any desire to look into this. What happened to the "enthusiastic" attitude that X10 used to have about fixing problems?

Noam: I've sent you an e-mail as well.

I don't think it's quite fair to say we haven't done anything about this problem in 11 months. Unfortunately, while we've fixed a bunch of these kinds of problems, we've fixed them multiple times because we've broken things later on (v3.200 is a good example). I don't think that the Activity Monitor is in as dire a state as it was when this thread was started, but you're right that it isn't where it should be. Once again, fixing parts of the Activity Monitor is on our work list. I'd like to get it nailed down for good this time, but we'll have to see how it goes.

X10 Pro -
You're right. The Activity Monitor is not as bad as it was when 3.183 rolled out, and we both agree that it isn't where it should be. Let's hope that one of these updates will finally fix it. (and when it does, try not to break it again, okay?  ;) )
