Sounds like it may be in away mode.  Press
and hold Stop/Away button until it beeps
one long beep and release.  Try it now.

I had some problems with my set up to but
each time I cleared everything and started
over. Works great now. You canít wait to
long between steps you have to do each step
as it calls for them. I donít know if was
me or my son and wife but after I down
loaded instruction from x10 instead of
using the ones that came with the kit (seem
to me some of the wording was a little
different on line then in the kit.

I am struggling with setting up the motion
sensor & vcr commander to understand vcr
remote  IR commands. I tried holding
stop/away with long beep & try setting it
again but the light does not go off after
pressing house button on motion sensor. Also
for REC learning the light does not go off
when I press vcr record button.

Ok I think you should try clearing first as
instructed on page 9. After that you need
to unplug the IR emitter cable in back of
you VCR commander unit, not the power
cable. You then want to press and hold the
(Play Button )   on the commander and hold
it till the light comes on and stays on.
Release the play button and push the house
button and light should go off on
commander. Then place the sensor aside
someplace where it wonít be disturbed Ė
like in a drawer. Keep in mind you get only
a minute or so to push the home button on
sensor after that if you take to long you
well hear a lot of beeping and play light
well go off.
You still need to set up VCR commands.
