Horizontal lines
« on: August 24, 2005, 10:49:43 AM »

I just received my Xcam2 InstantOn camera
system yesterday and tried to set them up.
I tried out one camera at first and kept on
having the problem with static noises and
horizontal lines on the TV with the video
image.  I tried to move the wireless
video/audio receiver (VR31A) around to
different positions to no avail.  I also got
the high pitched "squeaky" noises from the
audio signal too.  I had to mute the TV.
Anyone here experienced similar problem and
had any solution to it.  Many thanks in
advance.

I had problems with Horizontal lines too but
once I moved the receiver away from the TV
and other electronic sources it works great.

You might have to play around with the
antenna and move it in different positions.

It took me a few hours to get the best spot
for the reciever.  So good luck!

The high pitched noise is audio feed-back.
You have the camera too close to the TV
set.  Move the camera or turn down the
volume on the TV.  The mics built into the
cameras appear to be very sensitive.

As Chris said. 2.4 Ghz cordless phone will
interfere with the X10 signals. So will
wireless networks that also share the 2.4
Ghz band. Have read that some microwave
ovens will also mess up the signals. One
message here actually said that they could
tell when the microwave was on by the
scrambled picture from the camera.

I would try changing the channels on the
cameras and reciever.  There is an ABCD
switch on the cameras and receivers.  Try
changing them and see what happens.  I moved
all mine to the B side and everything works
great!  I too have a 2.4Ghz phone and
wireless network.

I tryed changing channels too. Didn't help.
Its a $500.00 phone system so I guess the
cam will have to go unless i can figure out
how to hard wire it.

Chris,
I am assuming that you tried to move the
reciever around and messed with the pad?

In my bedroom I have a 50 ft RCA video cable
and was able to move the reciever around
until I found the best spot to get good
reception from my cameras.

I'll definitely try out all your advices.
Hopefully, I'll get it to work.  I still had
the high pitched sound even though I move
the camera to another room in the house far
away from the TV.  I also hooked the
receiver up to 2 different TVs and the
horrible sound still persisted.  You can't
hear anything with the interferrng sound.  I
also tried what the manual suggested by
using the Y-splitter to get the mono input
to both stereo input jacks.  No help.

Well I had the same problem and tried
moving things but it ended up being one of
my cordless phones. I have 6 cordeless
phones and it was only one brand that didi
it. Try disconncting the power from your
cordless and checking the picture. My
wireless router has had no effect on the
picture.

Lines in picture....

1) check power adapter using with video
receiver, common to get poer adapter for
vcr commander mixed with one for receiver
(d9100 on receiver...bad)

2) interfering device, turn off (unplug)
all devices that are RF in nature. Unplug
all but 1 camera because other cameras if
not switching properly will also cause this
issue.

3) channel settings on receiver cameras
dont match (check instructions to find
these switches if you are unsure)

4) out of range, defective cam or defective
receiver! (try multiple cams 1 at a time,
replace receiver)

Don't ever give x10 your email address
unless you want to get tons of spam from
them.

Andy :

Every body gave you some good advise for the
lines. but for the pitch noise, did you check
if there was a speaker or other electronic
device close to your camera ? It could be
feedback noise from a speaker or some other
device.
