Receiver Broken?

Bought a simple starter package that came
with activehome, iwitness, motion sensor,
ninja base, camera, and receiver.

After hooking everything up and talking with
customer support for several hours which
resulted in them sending me to the generic
customer support pages on their site, I
cannot receive video at all.

I think the receiver was broken out of the
box (has strange mechanical 'burnt' smell,
and not to mention does nothing when attached
to a tv.) and what else is weird, I wanted to
add my camera as a module in activehome, come
to find out that the camera model is
differently labeled on the packing receipt,
the box the camera came in, and on the camera
itself!

I have no idea where to go from here, let
alone what camera model I actually have. Does
anyone have any ideas?

If you don't even get snow for video and a
static noise for sound on the tv. The
receiver is bad or the power supply is. A
burned smell also would indicate to me a bad
receiver.
