VA11A driver
« on: November 30, 2005, 12:41:11 PM »

Hi guys,
I am trying to install my VA11A adapter on XP
and have no luck. I tryied everything,
including all that the support recomended.
I am a "computer guy" so I'm not missing
something and I've read about others having
the same problem with this adapter. It's just
NOT WORKING and doesn't want anything else
but to go from "Intel camera" to "Unknown USB
device" and viceversa, just not wanting to
"update" the driver.
My question is: does X10 or any of you guys
have am actual .INF file representing the
actual driver ? That software downloaded from
the X10 site is just....not working.
Thanks guys.

If you are not specifying the drivers Location but letting windows select it will never find the correct driver!
The driver your looking for is in C:\Program Files\Common Files\X10\DriverInstall\VA11A Video Capture
if you indeed have corrupt Inf files you can get the correct files by downloading the X10drivers  from the X10 software Center You will most likely still need to manually select the driver location and not let windows look for the best driver! ;)

Tuicemen,

I have seen you provide this answer to the problem many times.  But, there is more that needs to be addressed.  The location you specify contains 8 files including 2 .Sys files (CA506AA.Sys, CA506AV.Sys).  Just pointing to "\VA11A Video Capture" doesn't work.  Must we specify a particular file within "\VA11A Video Capture" and, if so, which one?

Thanks.

Sorry wasn't thinking! ::)  :-[ My PC uses the CA506AV.Sys file according to the driver details!
So use the CA506AV.inf file when updating the driver! ;)
XP only shows 3 files, when asked to change the capture card driver and specifying the proper location, all are inf files!
Trying one file at a time should have resulted in one of them working unless of coarse one is using Vista!  :(
