Robo dog
« on: July 11, 2004, 04:48:14 PM »

Robo dog seems to go off way too frequently.
I sat in my garage watching to see what is
tripping the motion sensor off so much and
nothing is out there! Any suggestions?

My Robo-dog sits unplugged in my garage.  I
set mine up inside my garage too, and the
motion sensor on the wall between mine and
my neighbors house, where it was in the
shade all day and no lights on it at
night...the thing would go off with changes
in sun light, like when the sun goes
between clouds, when the wind rustled
leaves on a plant at the neighbors corner.
I put black tape on two sides of the sensor
to limit its field of view to no avail.  I
tried two other types of sensors with the
same results...I finally gave up on it as
hopeless.

I got my Mom a Robo DOg (she is retired) and
its goes off a lot too.  We determined (she
has the time to keep an eye on it) that
shifting sunlight and shadows seems to set
it off.  She turns it down during the day,
louder at night and louder when she is not
around.

X10 should include these details for
prospective buyers.
